Comparative and evolutionary analysis of the HES/HEY gene family reveal exon/intron loss and teleost specific duplication events.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
BackgroundHES/HEY genes encode a family of basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factors with both bHLH and Orange domain. HES/HEY proteins are direct targets of the Notch signaling pathway and play an essential role in developmental decisions ...

T Cell Exhaustion in Cancer Immunotherapy: Heterogeneity, Mechanisms, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
T cell exhaustion limits immunotherapy efficacy. This article delineates its progression from stem‐like to terminally exhausted states, governed by persistent antigen, transcription factors, epigenetics, and metabolism. It maps the exhaustion landscape in the TME and proposes integrated reversal strategies, providing a translational roadmap to overcome

Breeding for multi‐stress resilience in crops: Myth or possibility?

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Climate change threatens millions of farmers worldwide by exposing crops to multiple concurrent or sequential environmental stresses such as drought, heat, waterlogging, and diseases. Although crops have long been selected under naturally occurring multi‐stress conditions, breeding pipelines largely focus on optimal or single‐stress environments ...

The Enhancer of split and Achaete-Scute complexes of Drosophilids derived from simple ur-complexes preserved in mosquito and honeybee

open access: yesBMC Evolutionary Biology, 2005
Background In Drosophila melanogaster the Enhancer of split-Complex [E(spl)-C] consists of seven highly related genes encoding basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) repressors and intermingled, four genes that belong to the Bearded (Brd) family.

Single‐Cell Analysis Identified a Recurrent Malignant‐Associated Transcriptional State in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Colorectal cancer (CRC) shows high molecular heterogeneity, yet single‐cell data from Japanese patients are limited. We performed scRNA‐seq on tumors and adjacent normal tissues from four Japanese CRC patients and identified a shared malignant cell cluster with high KCNQ1OT1 expression and reduced RASSF6 levels.

Genome-Wide Identification of the bHLH Gene Family and Expression Analysis in Anthocyanin Synthesis in Lagerstroemia indica Leaves

open access: yesHorticulturae
The basic Helix-Loop-Helix (bHLH) transcription factor family is crucial for plant growth, development, and stress response regulation. Despite previous studies on the bHLH gene family in Lagerstroemia indica, many bHLH genes remain unidentified ...

Genome-wide identification of PbrbHLH family genes, and expression analysis in response to drought and cold stresses in pear (Pyrus bretschneideri)

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2021
Background The basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factors play important roles in many processes in plant growth, metabolism and responses to abiotic stresses. Although, the sequence of Chinese white pear genome (cv.

GeARF5/GeIAA33‐GeSWEET14 module balances the secondary metabolic biosynthesis to increase the yield and quality in Gastrodia elata

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Auxin signaling regulates the formation of vegetative propagation corms in Gastrodia elata by regulating sugar‐acid interconversion, which in turn regulates polysaccharide and starch biosynthesis as well as biosynthesis of the bioactive metabolite gastrodin.

Characterization of bHLH/HLH genes that are involved in brassinosteroid (BR) signaling in fiber development of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum)

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2018
Background Basic helix-loop-helix/helix-loop-helix (bHLH/HLH) transcription factors play important roles in plant development. Many reports have suggested that bHLH/HLH proteins participate in brassinosteroid (BR) hormone signaling pathways to promote ...

Salt glands in exo‐recretohalophytes: Development, physiological functions, and prospects for improving crop salt tolerance

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
This review examines salt glands in exo‐recretohalophytes, in which epidermal stem cells differentiate into unicellular, bicellular, or multicellular salt glands. Salt ions are transported to the leaves via the transpiration stream and enter salt glands through symplastic and apoplastic pathways. Finally, salt glands actively secrete salt ions from the
