The Use of 5‐Hydroxymethylfurfural (5‐HMF) in Multi‐Component Hantzsch Dihydropyridine Synthesis

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 17, Issue 16, August 26, 2024.
Symmetrical 5‐HMF derived 1,4‐dihydropyridines can be obtained in excellent yields under very mild and simple conditions avoiding the use of any complex solvent or catalyst and applicable on the multigram scale using the Hantzsch dihydropyridines synthesis.
