COQ7‐Related Neuropathy: Two New Cases and Review of the Literature

open access: yesJournal of the Peripheral Nervous System, Volume 31, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Biallelic variants in COQ7 have been associated with inherited neuropathy. COQ7 encodes a mitochondrial protein directly involved in coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) biosynthesis. Methods Two unreported and unrelated cases of COQ7‐related neuropathy are presented, along with a review of all previously published cases to highlight the ...

sRNA and cis-antisense sRNA identification in Staphylococcus aureus highlights an unusual sRNA gene cluster with one encoding a secreted peptide

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The human pathogen Staphylococcus aureus expresses a set of transcriptional factors and small RNAs (sRNAs) to adapt to environmental variations. Recent harmonization of staphylococcal sRNA data allowed us to search for novel sRNAs using DETR’PROK, a ...

A case report of a mild form of multiple acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency due to compound heterozygous mutations in the ETFA gene

open access: yesBMC Medical Genomics, 2020
Background Multiple acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (MADD), previously called glutaric aciduria type II, is a rare congenital metabolic disorder of fatty acids and amino acids oxidation, with recessive autosomal transmission.

Microbial Controls on Dissolved Organic Nitrogen Cycling During Long‐Term Degradation Experiments

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 10, 28 May 2026.
Abstract Dissolved organic nitrogen (DON) is critical for marine microbial growth by providing carbon and nitrogen. Although DON is rapidly cycled, some compounds within this pool can persist for long‐periods of time. To better understand how DON is cycled by marine microorganisms, we conducted 548‐day incubations using surface‐derived dissolved ...

Unlocking the Functionalization and Reactivity of Ethylene Bridges in [2.2]Paracyclophanes: Strategies and Challenges

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 20, 27 May 2026.
Bridging the gap. Beyond deck functionalization, the ethylene bridges of [2.2]paracyclophanes offer a largely unexploited reactivity landscape. This review showcases strategies to functionalize these bridges and leverage them to build novel cyclophane architectures.

Human low density lipoprotein subfractions separated by gradient gel electrophoresis: composition, distribution, and alterations induced by cholesteryl ester transfer protein.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1990
Low density lipoprotein (LDL) subfractions were studied in sera from 208 normolipidemic, 22 hypercholesterolemic, and 33 hypertriglyceridemic subjects.

The Warburg Effect in Yeast: Repression of Mitochondrial Metabolism Is Not a Prerequisite to Promote Cell Proliferation

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2020
O. Warburg conducted one of the first studies on tumor energy metabolism. His early discoveries pointed out that cancer cells display a decreased respiration and an increased glycolysis proportional to the increase in their growth rate, suggesting that ...

Role of cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) in the HDL conversion process as evidenced by using anti-CETP monoclonal antibodies

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1990
The implication of cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) in the high density lipoprotein (HDL) conversion process was studied by incubating HDL3 with a purified CETP preparation for 24 h at 37 degrees C.

Effects of phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate on triglyceride and cholesteryl ester synthesis in cultured coronary smooth muscle cells and macrophages.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1990
In cultured pig coronary smooth muscle cells phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) stimulated the conversion of [4-14C]cholesterol into cholesteryl esters and the incorporation of [2-3H]glycerol into triglycerides 6.4- and 4.5-fold, respectively.
