Quantitative analysis of 3D alignment quality: its impact on soft-validation, particle pruning and homogeneity analysis

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Single Particle Analysis using cryo-electron microscopy is a structural biology technique aimed at capturing the three-dimensional (3D) conformation of biological macromolecules. Projection images used to construct the 3D density map are characterized by

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

Mechanistic Understanding of Protein–MOF Integration Through Surfactant‐Driven Interfacial Design

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals how surfactant‐driven interfacial design governs the assembly and stability of protein@MOF composites. Using lipid‐based nonionic surfactants, we modulate protein–MOF interactions to improve encapsulation efficiency, MOF crystallization, and catalytic performance.

Ensemble of Deep Recurrent Neural Networks for Identifying Enhancers via Dinucleotide Physicochemical Properties

open access: yesCells, 2019
Enhancers are short deoxyribonucleic acid fragments that assume an important part in the genetic process of gene expression. Due to their possibly distant location relative to the gene that is acted upon, the identification of enhancers is difficult ...

Mapping human disease-associated enzymes into Reactome allows characterization of disease groups and their interactions

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
According to databases such as OMIM, Humsavar, Clinvar and Monarch, 1494 human enzymes are presently associated to 2539 genetic diseases, 75% of which are rare (with an Orphanet code). The Mondo ontology initiative allows a standardization of the disease

Practically Error‐Free Junctions Enable Solving Large Instances of Exact Cover Problems Using Network‐Based Biocomputation

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Scaling nanofluidic channel geometries to sub‐200 nm is demonstrated to suppress junction guiding errors in network‐based biocomputing. The resulting increase in path fidelity enables experimental solution of Exact Cover instances with more than 33 million possible solutions, establishing a new benchmark for network‐based biocomputing. ABSTRACT Network‐

Molecular Full Adder Based on DNA Strand Displacement

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
A new method, namely DNA strand displacement (DSD), has recently emerged in the field of biocomputing. DSD uses the toehold domain as a starting point to cover the strand in the migration domain.

Co‐phylogeny and biogeography of the myrmecophilous beetle Paussus favieri (Carabidae, Paussinae) and its host ant Pheidole pallidula (Hymenoptera, Myrmicinae)

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Strict patterns of co‐divergence have rarely been documented other than among organisms and their symbionts. In this paper, using a molecular approach, we inferr the population‐level phylogenies of a Mediterranean ant species Pheidole pallidula and its nest parasite, the obligate myrmecophilous beetle Paussus favieri. We then investigate the role of co‐
