Indicators of protein spoilage in fresh and defrosted crustaceans and cephalopods stored in domestic condition

open access: yesItalian Journal of Food Safety, 2018
In relation to consumer demand, crustaceans and cephalopods are sold as both fresh and defrosted. It is well known that total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N) and volatile amine values, especially, biogenic amines and biogenic amine index, are expression ...

Effect of Heat Treatments of Milk on Biogenic and Free Amino Acids of Low Fat Ras Cheese [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Food and Dairy Sciences, 2017
Four Ras cheese treatments were made by heating cheese milk 1.5 % fat for 65, 70, 75 and 80 oC. Fresh samples of mentioned treatments were analyzed for moisture, fat, total nitrogen, salt and acidity. Analyzed for free amino acids and biogenic amines was

Role of Biogenic Amines in Oviposition by the Diamondback Moth, Plutella xylostella L

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2020
Oviposition is an important reproductive behavior that is triggered by mating in insects, and biogenic amines might be involved in its regulation. The effects of biogenic amines on oviposition have only been studied in a few insect species, and the ...

Flexible Chemiresistive Chitosan‐Glycerol Sensors on Laser‐Induced Graphene Electrodes for Room‐Temperature Ammonia Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Flexible Chitosan‐glycerol sensor integrated with porous laser‐induced graphene (LIG) electrodes enable room‐temperature chemiresistive detection of ammonia (NH3) and proof‐of‐concept detection of fish spoilage. ABSTRACT We report a metal‐free sensor platform combining laser induced graphene (LIG) electrodes with drop‐deposited, glycerol‐plasticized ...

High Humidity Exacerbates Psoriasiform Skin Disease Relapse by Increasing Tissue‐Resident Memory T Cells via Altering Skin Microbiota

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrated that high humidity worsened psoriasis relapse in murine psoriasiform skin inflammation by increasing skin‐resident memory CD8+ cells via upregulating IL‐15Rα on keratinocytes. The increases in IL‐15Rα and memory CD8+ cells were attributed to S. nepalensis and its metabolite ADMA in skin exposed to high humidity.

Metabolism of biogenic amines in acute cerebral ischemia: Influence of systemic hyperglycemia [PDF]

open access: yesActa Veterinaria, 2012
Dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin are biogenic amines which are transmitters of the central nervous system. The effects of ischemia on the brain parenchyma depends on many factors, such is the mechanism of blood flow interruption, velocity of the

Functional Analysis of Ligand‐Gated Chloride Channels in a Cnidarian Sheds Light on the Evolution of Inhibitory Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We uncover a large variety of putative inhibitory ligand‐gated ion channels (LGICs) in the phylum Cnidaria, the sister group to all bilaterian animals. Phylogenetic analysis suggests a complex evolutionary history of inhibitory LGICs with diverse neurotransmitter ligands.

Optimized Selenium‐Doped Nanocomposites for Enhanced Polymer Gel Performance in Permeability Reduction

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Excessive water production in mature oil fields necessitates robust shut‐off treatments, yet conventional polymer gels often fail under high‐temperature and high‐salinity conditions. This study aims to enhance gel thermal stability and mechanical strength by incorporating selenium‐doped Ag/AgO–ZnO nanocomposites synthesized via a novel green ...
