Epigenetic and microbiome responses to greens supplementation in obese older adults: results from a randomized crossover-controlled trial

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
Aging is influenced by genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. Preliminary studies suggest that fruit and vegetable-based dietary supplements may reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, key factors in aging.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Cellular Senescence as a Targetable Risk Factor for Cardiovascular Diseases

open access: yesJACC: Basic to Translational Science
Summary: The prevalence of cardiovascular diseases markedly rises with age. Cellular senescence, a hallmark of aging, is characterized by irreversible cell cycle arrest and the manifestation of a senescence-associated secretory phenotype, which has ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Associations of Epigenetic Age Acceleration With CVD Risks Across the Lifespan

open access: yesJACC: Basic to Translational Science
Summary: Although epigenetic age acceleration (EAA) might serve as a molecular signature of childhood cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors and further promote midlife subclinical CVD, few studies have comprehensively examined these life course ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Association of a pace of aging epigenetic clock with rate of cognitive decline in the Framingham Heart Study Offspring Cohort

open access: yesAlzheimer’s & Dementia: Diagnosis, Assessment & Disease Monitoring
INTRODUCTION The geroscience hypothesis proposes systemic biological aging is a root cause of cognitive decline. METHODS We analyzed Framingham Heart Study Offspring Cohort data (n = 2296; 46% male; baseline age M = 62, SD = 9, range = 25–101 y).
