Assay of Thiamine in Biologic Fluids
Abstract A method based on the protozoan Ochromonas malhamensis has been developed for assaying thiamine in biologic fluids. It is sensitive, specific and reproducible. Results by this method agree well with other less convenient methods of thiamine assay.

A watershed-based algorithm to segment and classify cells in fluorescence microscopy images [PDF]
Imaging assays of cellular function, especially those using fluorescent stains, are ubiquitous in the biological and medical sciences. Despite advances in computer vision, such images are often analyzed using only manual or rudimentary automated processes.

Femtosecond Photonic Viral Inactivation Probed Using Solid-State Nanopores [PDF]
We report on the detection of inactivation of virus particles using femtosecond laser radiation by measuring the conductance of a solid state nanopore designed for detecting single virus particles. Conventional methods of assaying for viral inactivation based on plaque forming assays require 24-48 hours for bacterial growth.
