A microfluidic chip based model for the study of full thickness human intestinal tissue using dual flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
© 2016 Author(s). The study of inflammatory bowel disease, including Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease, has relied largely upon the use of animal or cell culture models; neither of which can represent all aspects of the human pathophysiology ...

Dithioketal Polymers Via Radical Polymerization of γ‐Dithiobutyrolactone

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
γ‐Dithiobutyrolactone (DTBL) behaves like a ring‐retaining monomer in radical copolymerization with a series of conjugated monomers like styrene, t‐butyl acrylate and N,N‐dimethylacrylamide. The resulting copolymers contain controlled fractions of dithioketal linkages in their backbone, allowing chemical degradation.

The Effect of the Particle Size Reduction on the Biorelevant Solubility and Dissolution of Poorly Soluble Drugs with Different Acid-Base Character

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2023
Particle size reduction is a commonly used process to improve the solubility and the dissolution of drug formulations. The solubility of a drug in the gastrointestinal tract is a crucial parameter, because it can greatly influence the bioavailability ...

Pyrene, a Test Case for Deep-Ultraviolet Molecular Photophysics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We determined the complete relaxation dynamics of pyrene in ethanol from the second bright state, employing experimental and theoretical broadband heterodyne detected transient grating and two-dimensional photon echo (2DPE) spectroscopy, using pulses ...

Dissolution of theophylline from extended-release tablets under cyclic retrograde peristaltic contractions in the Dynamic Colon Model

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacy, 2022
The dynamic colon model isa biorelevant in vitro model of the human proximal colon. In vivo, the large intestine mixes its contents using peristaltic waves that propagate both forwards(antegrade) and backwards (retrograde).

Supporting food effect prediction using biorelevant small scale in vitro solubility approaches

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacy, 2023
This study applies biorelevant fasted and fed simulated intestinal media (SIM) to compare the solubility of griseofulvin, ibuprofen, and dipyridamole to investigate the prediction of food effects.

Albendazole Solid Dispersions: Influence of Dissolution Medium Composition on In Vitro Drug Release [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The rate-limiting step to drug absorption is often dissolution from the dosage form, especially for poorly soluble com-pounds. Two possibilities for improving the dissolution of these drugs are to increase the available surface area and to im-prove their

Directly Compressed Tablets of Free Acid Ibuprofen with Nanocellulose Featuring Enhanced Dissolution: A Side-by-Side Comparison with Commercial Oral Dosage Forms

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2020
We have previously reported that heated powder mixtures of ibuprofen (IBU) and high surface area nanocellulose exhibit an enhanced dissolution and solubility of the drug due to IBU amorphization.
