Field inoculation with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) offers a promising route to improve sustainable agriculture and food production, yet results are often variable. We investigated the mycorrhizal growth response of maize and wheat varieties recommended for farmers and found substantial variation under greenhouse conditions.

Synthetic community complexity reduction designs. Summary Plant growth is influenced by the composition of its associated microbiome. The inherent complexity and functional redundancy of natural plant microbiomes present a formidable barrier to understanding the myriad biological interactions therein.

ABSTRACT To ensure sustainable agricultural production under escalating environmental constraints such as drought and salinity, innovative strategies are urgently needed. Here, we reveal in foxtail millet (Setaria italica) that transcription factors TAF10 and ERF109 form a functional complex which co‐activates the expression of key flavonoid ...

The Chemical Biology of Plant Biostimulants [PDF]
This book brings together different aspects of biostimulants, providing an overview of the variety of materials exploited as biostimulants, their biological activity, and agricultural applications. As different groups of biostimulants display different bioactivity and specificity, advances in biostimulant research is illustrated by different examples ...

ABSTRACT Drought stress is a major limitation to global wheat production. Here, we demonstrate that the wheat gene TaCOMT1A, encoding a caffeic acid O‐methyltransferase, plays a crucial role in enhancing drought tolerance in wheat. Overexpression of TaCOMT1A significantly improved drought tolerance at the seedling stage, as evidenced by higher survival

Exogenous IAA supply enhances the strategy I response in common bean under iron deficiency. Abstract Iron deficiency is a common nutritional disorder observed in calcareous soils, where its resolution by classical methods has shown its failure. However, the exploitation of certain potentialities possessed by crops (rhizosphere acidification, H‐ATPase ...
