Heme A biosynthesis

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 2012
Respiration in plants, most animals and many aerobic microbes is dependent on heme A. This is a highly specialized type of heme found as prosthetic group in cytochrome a-containing respiratory oxidases. Heme A differs structurally from heme B (protoheme IX) by the presence of a hydroxyethylfarnesyl group instead of a vinyl side group at the C2 position

Chemoresistome mapping in individual breast cancer patients unravels diversity in dynamic transcriptional adaptation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study used longitudinal transcriptomics and gene‐pattern classification to uncover patient‐specific mechanisms of chemotherapy resistance in breast cancer. Findings reveal preexisting drug‐tolerant states in primary tumors and diverse gene rewiring patterns across patients, converging on a few dysregulated functional modules. Despite receiving the

Transition to Chaos in the Kinetic Model of Cellulose Hydrolysis Under Enzyme Biosynthesis Control [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
In the paper the kinetic model of the biochemical process of cellulose hydrolysis with cell application is presented. The model includes enzyme biosynthesis control and is open conditions it represents the dynamical system in the preturbulent regime. The limit cycle and its five consequence bifurcations of the doubling-period type are found.

Development of Integrated Vectors with Strong Constitutive Promoters for High-Yield Antibiotic Production in Mangrove-Derived Streptomyces

open access: yesMarine Drugs
It is important to improve the production of bioactive secondary products for drug development. The Escherichia coli—Streptomyces shuttle vector pSET152 and its derived vector pIB139 containing a strong constitutive promoter ermEp* are commonly used as ...

Parallel analysis of tri-molecular biosynthesis with cell identity and function in single cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Cellular products derived from the activity of DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis collectively control cell identity and function. Yet there is little information on how these three biosynthesis activities are coordinated during transient and sparse ...

Ubiquitination of transcription factors in cancer: unveiling therapeutic potential

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In cancer, dysregulated ubiquitination of transcription factors contributes to the uncontrolled growth and survival characteristics of tumors. Tumor suppressors are degraded by aberrant ubiquitination, or oncogenic transcription factors gain stability through ubiquitination, thereby promoting tumorigenesis.

Coordinated Slowing of Metabolism in Enteric Bacteria under Nitrogen Limitation: A Perspective [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2001
It is natural to ask how bacteria coordinate metabolism when depletion of an essential nutrient limits their growth, and they must slow their entire rate of biosynthesis. A major nutrient with a fluctuating abundance is nitrogen. The growth rate of enteric bacteria under nitrogen-limiting conditions is known to correlate with the internal concentration

Biosynthesis of lignans. Part I . Biosynthesis of Arctiin (3) and Phillyrin (5) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
Lignans constitute a class of naturally occuring phenolic compounds, widely distributed in higher plants. They are formally composed of two phenylpropanoid units, stercospecifically joined at the /f-carbon atoms of their side chains. Their biosynthesis

Adenosine A3 receptor antagonists as anti‐tumor treatment in human prostate cancer: an in vitro study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The A3 adenosine receptors (A3ARs) are overexpressed in prostate cancer. AR 292 and AR 357, as A3AR antagonists, are capable of blocking proliferation, modulating the expression of drug transporter genes involved in chemoresistance, ferroptosis, and the hypoxia response, and inducing cell death.

Oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids by leaf tissue

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1964
Plant leaf systems have been incubated under various conditions with uniformly labeled oleic acid, and the breakdown products identified by gas–liquid chromatography.
