Methionine synthesis in Neurospora. The isolation of cystathionine [PDF]

open access: yes, 1947
Among artificially produced biochemical mutants of Neurospora, those which have lost the ability to synthesize methionine form the largest class. At the present writing 87 occurrences of the methionineless character have been observed in this laboratory ...

Noninvasive Assessment of β‐Secretase Activity Through Click Chemistry‐Mediated Enrichment of Neuronal Extracellular Vesicles to Detect Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents the NEV β‐secretase activity assay, a groundbreaking method for noninvasive evaluation of β‐secretase activity in Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients, enabling the generation of individualized β‐secretase activity profiles.

A new case of sodium‐dependent multivitamin transporter defect occurring as a life‐threatening condition responsive to early vitamin supplementation and literature review

open access: yesMolecular Genetics & Genomic Medicine
Background Biallelic pathogenic variants in SLC5A6 resulting in sodium‐dependent multivitamin transporter (SMVT) defect have recently been described as a vitamin‐responsive inborn error of metabolism mimicking biotinidase deficiency.

Eosinophils‐Induced Lumican Secretion by Synovial Fibroblasts Alleviates Cartilage Degradation via the TGF‐β Pathway Mediated by Anxa1 Binding

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Eosinophils play a crucial role in the progression of temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA). This study demonstrates that eosinophils, induced by OVA/IL‐5, promote Lumican secretion in the synovium, which binds to Annexin A1 in chondrocytes, inhibiting transforming growth factor β2 and Smad2/3 phosphorylation.

Optical detection of single non-absorbing molecules using the surface plasmon of a gold nanorod

open access: yes, 2012
Current optical detection schemes for single molecules require light absorption, either to produce fluorescence or direct absorption signals. This severely limits the range of molecules that can be detected, because most molecules are purely refractive ...

S‐ketamine Alleviates Neuroinflammation and Attenuates Lipopolysaccharide‐Induced Depression Via Targeting SIRT2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
S‐ketamine binds directly to SIRT2, facilitating its interaction with NF‐κB p65. This interaction reduces the acetylation of NF‐κB p65 and inhibits its activation, thereby exerting anti‐inflammatory and antidepressant effects. Created by BioRender.
