Bisdemethoxycurcumin attenuates gastric adenocarcinoma growth by inducing mitochondrial dysfunction

open access: yesOncology Letters, 2014
Bisdemethoxycurcumin (BDMC) is a demethoxy derivative of curcumin. In this study, a human gastric adenocarcinoma xenograft model was generated in vivo using nude mice and BDMC was observed to suppress the growth and activity of tumors, in addition to improving the physical and mental capacity of the mice.

Influence of different drying techniques on the quality and physicochemical properties of Ghana‐sourced turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) samples

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study evaluated the influence of four drying techniques—freeze drying (FZD), microwave drying (MCD), oven drying (OVD), and sun drying (SUD)—on the bioactive, nutritional, and physical properties of turmeric. Using standard analytical procedures, the samples were examined for antioxidant activity (DPPH and ABTS assays), total ...

Antioxidant, Antidiabetic and Cytoprotective Activities of Synthetic Chloro‐Curcumin Derivatives in C2C12 Myotubes

open access: yesApplied Research, Volume 5, Issue 4, August 2026.
Structural reengineering of curcumin generated derivatives with antioxidant, cytoprotective and glucose‐modulating activities. These compounds improved cellular responses to hyperglycaemic stress in C2C12 myotubes, highlighting their potential as candidates for managing oxidative stress–related metabolic disorders, particularly type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Selective Anti‐Inflammatory Actions of Curcumin on Cytokine Pathways in Major Depressive Disorder

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
Curcumin partially attenuates IRS/M1/Th1 immune activation in MDD patients ex vivo, but fails to normalize it. Paradoxically, it upregulates immune profiles in healthy controls. Its immunomodulatory effects are state‐dependent, suggesting cautious use in non‐depressed individuals.

Optimizing the Anti‐Inflammatory Efficacy of Pakistani Spice Blends: A Farm‐to‐Fork Analysis of Phytochemical Synergy and Processing Stability

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
This review aims to evaluate the anti‐inflammatory potential of these spice blends, emphasizing their synergistic mechanisms, and to investigate how cultivation practices, post‐harvest processing, and environmental stressors shape their medicinal efficacy. By addressing this gap, it seeks to provide a comprehensive framework for integrating traditional
