Phytoremediation of Benzophenone and Bisphenol A by Glycosylation with Immobilized Plant Cells

open access: yes, 2009
Benzophenone and bisphenol A are environmental pollutions, which have been listed among “chemicals suspected of having endocrine disrupting effects” by the World Wildlife Fund, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in the USA and the ...

Advanced Dental Composite Technology via Bisilanized Dual‐Action Nanofillers for Biofilm Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multimodal research strategy has led to the development of an innovative resin‐based composite (RBC) with dual antibacterial action. The S_CM‐RBC formula showed strong antibiofilm activity, excellent mechanical strength, and biosafety. It effectively controlled oral bacteria in prevention of caries recurrence, and maintained pulp health in a rat ...

The bisphenol S contamination level observed in human follicular fluid affects the development of porcine oocytes

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2023
Bisphenol S (BPS), the main replacement for bisphenol A (BPA), is thought to be toxic, but limited information is available on the effects of Bisphenol S on ovarian follicles.

Spatially Separated Redox Centers in One‐Dimensional Sp2‐Carbon Covalent Organic Frameworks Enable Synergistic Photocatalytic Palladium Recovery and Bisphenol A Mineralization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A one‐dimensional sp2‐carbon covalent organic framework with spatially segregated redox centers integrates a dual photosensitizing system and a cationic interface for synergistic photocatalysis. The material achieves exceptional palladium recovery (1749 mg g−1) and bisphenol A mineralization (0.1710 min−1) without sacrificial agents, demonstrating ...

Cobalt Single‐Atom Catalysts for Ultrafast Sulfamethoxazole Degradation: Unveiling the Chloride‐Ion‐Enhanced Formation of Co(IV)=O

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An atomically dispersed Co–N4 single‐atom catalyst rapidly activates peroxymonosulfate to remove the antibiotic sulfamethoxazole from water. Common ions have little impact, but chloride dramatically speeds degradation by promoting a high‐valent Co(IV) = O oxidant via in situ HOCl–catalyst electron transfer.

Effects of endocrine disruptor mixtures on functions of cultured porcine ovarian follicular cells

open access: yesEndocrine Regulations
Objective. Involvement of various endocrine disruptors (EDs) in pathophysiology of reproductive system disorders has been suggested previously. The studies have shown adverse effects of the individual substances, however, in the real-life situation ...

Acrylamide and bisphenol A: two plastic additives increase platelet activation, via oxidative stress

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
BackgroundSince the mid-20th century, the widespread use of plastics has led to the buildup of harmful byproducts in the environment—most notably acrylamide (AA) and bisphenol A (BPA).

Self‐Adaptive Non‐Flammable Wallpaper With Layered Bead‐Network Structure for Light Path Modulation Enabling on‐Demand Building Thermal Management

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A layered bead‐network wallpaper is designed to modulate the light propagation path, overcoming the color residue limitations of thermochromic components for efficient automatic switching between radiative cooling and solar heating modes. The layered bead‐network wallpaper provides passive, all‐season thermal regulation while offering self‐cleaning and
