Bacillus subtilis regulatory protein GerE [PDF]
GerE is the latest-acting of a series of factors which regulate gene expression in the mother cell during sporulation in Bacillus. The gene encoding GerE has been cloned from B. subtilis and overexpressed in Escherichia coli.

G4‐binding proteins (G4BPs) that specifically co‐bind G4s in the presence of small‐molecule ligands represent a critical but unexplored class of proteins. We introduce G4‐Ligand‐Directed PROTACs (G4L‐TACs), a chemical platform that couples G4 ligands (PDS) to E3 recruiters to selectively degrade these ligand‐co‐binding G4BPs.

Structural analysis of Salmonella enterica effector protein SopD [PDF]
Salmonella outer protein D (SopD) is a type III secreted virulence effector protein from Salmonella enterica. Full-length SopD and SopD lacking 16 amino acids at the N-terminus (SopDDeltaN) have been expressed as fusions with GST in Escherichia coli ...

TaMYB7‐A1 directly activates TaABI5 to enhance ABA signaling and regulate ABA‐GA homeostasis, enforcing seed dormancy. Its superior allele, derived from wild einkorn introgression, harbors a MITE insertion that elevates expression and two amino acid substitutions that enhance transcriptional activity, collectively generating graded PHS resistance for ...

Biochemical characterization of the POM-1 metallo-β-lactamase from Pseudomonas otitidis [PDF]
The POM-1 metallo--lactamase is a subclass B3 resident enzyme produced by Pseudomonas otitidis, a pathogen causing otic infections. The enzyme was overproduced in Escherichia coli BL21(DE3), purified by chromatography, and subjected to structural and ...

CRISPR/Cas13a: Compensatory Target Activation Mechanism
CRISPR/Cas13a‐CTAM as a novel compensatory target activation mechanism that enables synergistic activation of Cas13a via two independently editable short RNA effectors. This dual‐effector system maintains enzymatic activity comparable to traditional single‐effector while significantly enhancing flexibility, sensitivity, and application scope.

Engineering an Optogenetic pH‐Modulator in Bacteria
ABSTRACT Cells in many naturally occurring organisms routinely cooperate to control their extracellular pH in a dynamic and reversible manner, but this capability has been underexplored in synthetic biology. Here, we sought to engineer a microbial system that switches between two states —high and low extracellular pH— with minimal human intervention ...
