Efficient and Practical Composition of Lock-Free Data Structures
A concurrent data object is lock-free if it guarantees that at least one, among all concurrent operations, finishes after a finite number of steps. In other words, a lock free technique guarantees that some thread always makes progress.

During the construction of concrete ship locks, prolonged interruptions between the casting of the floor and lock wall are inevitable. In terms of mass concrete, long placement delays are one of the major reasons for the presence of cracks in newly ...

Parallel (probable) lock-free hash sieve: a practical sieving algorithm for the SVP [PDF]
In this paper, we assess the practicability of Hash Sieve, a recently proposed sieving algorithm for the Shortest Vector Problem (SVP) on lattices, on multi-core shared memory systems.

Mechanistic insights and in vivo HIV suppression by the BRD4-targeting small molecule ZL0580.
Epigenetic suppression and durable silencing of HIV represent a promising strategy to achieve ART-free remission, consistent with the "block and lock" HIV cure paradigm.

This article investigates the dependence of the properties on the manufacturing orientation in the form of the inclination angle to the build plate of LPBF‐fabricated NiTi rods with a diameter of 150–220 µm. Metallographic, chemical, thermal, and mechanical characterization show behavior under identical manufacturing conditions that ranges from ...

TSC-IBR: A Variant of Interval-Based Memory Reclamation Using CPU’s Time-Stamp Counter
Hardware timestamps are increasingly used in concurrent data structures. On the x86_64 platform, a clock with cycle-level resolution maintained by the CPU’s time-stamp counter register is frequently employed to implement parallel algorithms, and ...

This study explores the discrepancies between bulk mechanics and spatial mapping in a tissue‐mimetic hydrogel model. Microplastic particles create localized stiff mechanical microenvironments that are detectable by cellular‐scale nanoindentation but leave bulk properties unchanged as measured by rheology.

LFTHREADS : a lock-free thread library
This extended abstract presents LFTHREADS, a thread library entirely based on lock-free methods, i.e. no spinlocks or similar synchronization mechanisms are employed in the implementation of the multithreading.

Design of a Multistable Finger Prosthesis with Programmable Metamaterials
This research article shows the development of a multistable programmble metamaterial for the use as a finger prosthesis. The material was designed on different hierarchical levels where the influence of geometrical parameters and combination of mechanical elements was explored.
