Sequence variation and molecular evolution of BMP4 genes
Bone morphogenetic protein 4 (BMP4) regulates skeletogenesis, osteoblastic differentiation, and the induction of hair follicles. Its protein-coding region contains a signal peptide, prodomain (which regulates post-translational synthesis), and a mature domain (which mediates gene function). Previous studies considered this gene to be conserved.

This study demonstrates that the imbalance between osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation in senescent BMSCs, leading to excessive adipocyte accumulation, which subsequently impairs bone regeneration in aged mice. To address this pathological dysregulation, a novel energy‐supplying hydrogel system (PBR) has been developed to restore balanced ...

BMP4 Induces Cardiomyocyte Hypertrophy Through the Activation of ERK 1/2 Signaling Pathway in H9c2 Cells [PDF]
Bone morphogenetic protein-4 (BMP4) is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein family which plays an important role in bone formation, inflammation and cardiac hypertrophy.

Endogenous Wnt signalling in human embryonic stem cells generates an equilibrium of distinct lineage-specified progenitors. [PDF]
The pluripotent nature of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) makes them convenient for deriving therapeutically relevant cells. Here we show using Wnt reporter hESC lines that the cells are heterogeneous with respect to endogenous Wnt signalling activity.

Dual‐Strategy Design of Heterojunction‐Enhanced Piezoelectric Hydrogels for Periodontitis Treatment
This study developed a piezoelectric hydrogel integrating heterojunction enhancement and dual‐salt synergy, combining robust electrical performance with mechanical stability and bioactivity to better match the periodontal microenvironment. Under ultrasound activation, the hydrogel markedly promotes macrophage M2 polarization, thereby reducing the ...

ABSTRACT Bladder exstrophy and epispadias complex (BEEC) is one of the most severe congenital malformations of the urogenital tract, significantly impacting continence, sexual function, and renal function. To date, the only recurrent genetic aberration identified is the 22q.11.2 microduplication, but several candidate regions and genes including ...

Background Bone morphogenetic protein 4 (BMP4) is a potent inhibitor of breast cancer metastasis. However, a tumor-promoting effect of BMP4 is reported in other tumor types, especially when SMAD4 is inactive.

Lithium alters expression of RNAs in a type-specific manner in differentiated human neuroblastoma neuronal cultures, including specific genes involved in Alzheimer's disease. [PDF]
Lithium (Li) is a medication long-used to treat bipolar disorder. It is currently under investigation for multiple nervous system disorders, including Alzheimer's disease (AD).
