Bone morphogenetic protein 4 promotes the survival and preserves the structure of flow-sorted Bhlhb5+ cochlear spiral ganglion neurons in vitro

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
SGNs are the primary auditory neurons, and damage or loss of SGNs leads to sensorineural hearing loss. BMP4 is a growth factor that belongs to the TGF-β superfamily and has been shown to play a key role during development, but little is known about its ...

Hemojuvelin-Neogenin Interaction Is Required for Bone Morphogenic Protein-4-induced Hepcidin Expression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Hemojuvelin (HJV) is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-linked protein and binds both bone morphogenic proteins (BMPs) and neogenin. Cellular HJV acts as a BMP co-receptor to enhance the transcription of hepcidin, a key iron regulatory hormone secreted ...

Micro Pattern‐Based 3D Cell Culture Platform: An Overview of Technologies and Applications

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
Micro patterns are characterized as a coating of specific adhesion matrices on substrates to support cell growth. An overview of micropattern technology to regulate single cell morphology and fates, further focusing on the micro pattern‐based 3D cell culture platform used in the non‐tumor and tumor researches.

A vertebrate crossveinless 2 homologue modulates BMP activity and neural crest cell migration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Previous work has revealed that proteins that bind to bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) and inhibit their signalling have a crucial role in the spatial and temporal regulation of cell differentiation and cell migration by BMPs.

Multidisciplinary Strategies for Targeting Tumor Dormancy in Breast Cancer Therapeutics: Hallmarks, Mechanism, and Approaches

open access: yesiMetaMed, EarlyView.
Clinical phases and classification of breast tumor dormancy. Tumor dormancy is described as the period after treatment until residual tumor cells become detectable as relapsing disease in clinic. During the period of clinical tumor dormancy, tumor mass dormancy and cellular dormancy may coexist.

Holistic bone developing microenvironment engineered apoptotic extracellular vesicles recapitulate multidimensional developmental signatures in adult and senile bone repair

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
The developing bone was identified as an M2a‐like macrophage driven immune microenvironment with multidimensional developmental signatures. hME‐ApoEVs were successfully fabricated via stimulating the M2a‐like developing microenvironment in vitro and confirmed its recapitulation of developmental features.

Modeling mammalian gastrulation with embryonic stem cells

open access: yes, 2017
Understanding cell fate patterning and morphogenesis in the mammalian embryo remains a formidable challenge. Recently, in vivo models based on embryonic stem cells (ESCs) have emerged as complementary methods to quantitatively dissect the physical and ...

Bright Ferritin for Non‐Invasive MRI Monitoring of the Fate of Transplanted hPSC‐Cardiomyocytes in the Infarcted Rat Heart

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To demonstrate that a recently reported bright ferritin magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) platform can track transplanted human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)‐derived cardiomyocytes (hPSC‐CMs) longitudinally and on‐demand in the rat heart.

Effects of Different Doses of Bone Morphogenetic Protein 4 on Viability and Proliferation Rates of Mouse Embryonic Stem Cells [PDF]

open access: yesCell Journal, 2009
Objective: In this study, we examined the effect of different doses of bone morphogeneticprotein 4 (BMP4) on CCE mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs) viability andproliferation rates in order to improve the outcome of induction processes and make asystem ...
