Shedding of Infectious Borna Disease Virus-1 in Living Bicolored White-Toothed Shrews. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Many RNA viruses arise from animal reservoirs, namely bats, rodents and insectivores but mechanisms of virus maintenance and transmission still need to be addressed.

Infections of horses and shrews with Bornaviruses in Upper Austria: a novel endemic area of Borna disease

open access: yesEmerging Microbes and Infections, 2017
Borna disease, a lethal infection with Borna disease virus-1 (BoDV-1), was diagnosed in four horses from Upper Austria in 2015 and 2016. All cases occurred in winter (two cases in February 2015 and two cases in December 2016), and the maximal distance of

Assessment of listing and categorisation of animal diseases within the framework of the Animal Health Law (Regulation (EU) No 2016/429): Borna disease

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 15, Issue 7, July 2017., 2017
Abstract Borna disease has been assessed according to the criteria of the Animal Health Law (AHL), in particular criteria of Article 7 on disease profile and impacts, Article 5 on the eligibility of Borna disease to be listed, Article 9 for the categorisation of Borna disease according to disease prevention and control rules as in Annex IV and Article ...

Pathogen Screening for Possible Causes of Meningitis/Encephalitis in Wild Carnivores From Saxony-Anhalt

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2022
Inflammation in meninges and/or brain is regularly noticed in red foxes and other wild carnivores during rabies control programs. Despite negative rabies virus (RABV) results, the etiologies of these cases remain unknown.

On viscous and resistive dissipation of Alfvén waves in an isothermal atmosphere

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 20, Issue 3, Page 605-610, 1997., 1995
In this article we will investigate reflection and dissipation of Alfvén waves, resulting from a uniform vertical magnetic field, in a viscous, resistive and isothermal atmosphere. It is shown that the atmosphere may be divided into two distinct regions connected by an absorbing and reflecting transition layer.

Implementing O(N) N‐Body Algorithms Efficiently in Data‐Parallel Languages

open access: yesScientific Programming, Volume 5, Issue 4, Page 337-364, 1996., 1995
The optimization techniques for hierarchical O(N) N‐body algorithms described here focus on managing the data distribution and the data references, both between the memories of different nodes and within the memory hierarchy of each node. We show how the techniques can be expressed in data‐parallel languages, such as High Performance Fortran (HPF) and ...

Protein Target Highlights in CASP16: Insights From the Structure Providers

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, Volume 94, Issue 1, Page 25-50, January 2026.
ABSTRACT This article presents an in‐depth analysis of selected CASP16 targets, with a focus on their biological and functional significance. The authors highlight the most relevant features of the target proteins and discuss how well these were reproduced in the submitted predictions.

Update‐in‐Place Analysis for True Multidimensional Arrays

open access: yesScientific Programming, Volume 5, Issue 2, Page 147-160, 1996., 1995
Applicative languages have been proposed for defining algorithms for parallel architectures because they are implicitly parallel and lack side effects. However, straightforward implementations of applicative‐language compilers may induce large amounts of copying to preserve program semantics.
