Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

Transcriptomic Signature and Pro-Osteoclastic Secreted Factors of Abnormal Bone-Marrow Stromal Cells in Fibrous Dysplasia

open access: yesCells
Fibrous dysplasia (FD) is a mosaic skeletal disorder caused by somatic activating variants of GNAS encoding for Gαs and leading to excessive cyclic adenosine monophosphate signaling in bone-marrow stromal cells (BMSCs).

Small-molecule amines: a big role in the regulation of bone homeostasis

open access: yesBone Research, 2023
Numerous small-molecule amines (SMAs) play critical roles in maintaining bone homeostasis and promoting bone regeneration regardless of whether they are applied as drugs or biomaterials.

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Rad GTPase is essential for the regulation of bone density and bone marrow adipose tissue in mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The small GTP-binding protein Rad (RRAD, Ras associated with diabetes) is the founding member of the RGK (Rad, Rem, Rem2, and Gem/Kir) family that regulates cardiac voltage-gated Ca2 + channel function.

Tristetraprolin Is Required for Alveolar Bone Homeostasis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dental Research, 2018
Tristetraprolin (TTP) is an RNA-binding protein that targets numerous immunomodulatory mRNA transcripts for degradation. Many TTP targets are key players in the pathogenesis of periodontal bone loss, including tumor necrosis factor–α. To better understand the extent that host immune factors play during periodontal bone loss, we assessed alveolar bone ...

Aging Is a Key Driver for Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a classical age‐related hematologic malignancy, and a key driver of AML is aging, which profoundly regulates intrinsic factors such as genomic instability, epigenetic reprogramming, and metabolic dysregulation, and alters bone marrow microenvironment.

Anatomical sector analysis of load-bearing tibial bone structure during 90 days bed rest and 1- year recovery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this study was to investigate whether the bone response to long bed rest–related immobility and during subsequent recovery differed at anatomically different sectors of tibial epiphysis and diaphysis.

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

Chronobiology of Cancer: How Aging Fuels Oncogenesis at the Molecular Level

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract illustrates the key biological pathways linking aging with cancer development and progression. In the upper left, cumulative exposure to ultraviolet radiation, toxins, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) causes DNA damage and genomic instability, whereas age‐related decline in repair mechanisms, such as ATM/ATR, BER, and NER ...
