Expression of bone morphogenetic protein in the course of osteoinduction by recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein‐2

Clinical Oral Implants Research, 2002
Abstract: To clarify the mechanism of osteoinduction by recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein‐2 (rhBMP‐2), we examined the time‐course localization of bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) immunostained by an anti‐BMP‐2 monoclonal antibody after implantation of pellets consisting of rhBMP‐2 and collagen in rat calf muscle pouch.

Healing Bone Using Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 and Copolymer

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1998
Middiaphyseal 2.5-cm segmental defects in the right femurs of 12 sheep were stabilized with stainless steel plates and implanted with (1) 2 mg recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 2 and poly[D,L-(lactide-co-glycolide)] bioerodible polymer with autologous blood (n = 7), (2) 4 mg recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 2 and poly[D,L ...

Bone morphogenetic protein‐2 for peri‐implant bone regeneration and osseointegration

Clinical Oral Implants Research, 1997
Recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein‐2 (rhBMP‐2) induced bone regeneration and osseointegration was evaluated in supra‐alveolar peri‐implant defects in 5 beagle dogs. Alveolar bone was reduced 5 mm in height in mandibular premolar areas and the premolars were extracted.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields Enhance Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 Dependent-Bone Regeneration

Tissue Engineering Part A, 2015
The use of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) for the purpose of promoting bone regeneration is emerging; however, the high dose of rhBMP-2 required in humans is accompanied by several limitations, including bone resorption and swelling.

Bone Augmentation Using Allogeneic Bone Blocks With Recombinant Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2

Implant Dentistry, 2017
Because of limitations of the absorbable collagen sponge (ACS), recombinant bone morphogenetic protein (rhBMP-2) requires a scaffolding device for ridge augmentation.Twenty-one patients were treated with 37 allogeneic block grafts and rhBMP-2/ACS.

New scaffold for recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein‐2

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A, 2004
AbstractA bioactive and resorbable scaffold is necessary to exhibit the osteoinductive potency of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein‐2 (rhBMP‐2). In a previous study, we found that synthetic octacalcium phosphate (OCP) enhances bone regeneration and is replaced by newly formed bone after it is resorbed.

Clinical Evaluation of Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 2002
Recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 is an osteoinductive protein that plays a pivotal role in bone growth and regeneration. Several hundred studies were conducted in the past 7 years in numerous animal models to establish unequivocally the efficacy, safety, mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics, and surgical handling properties of ...

Sustained release emphasizing recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2

Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, 1998
Bone homeostasis is a dynamic process involving a myriad of cells and substrates modulated by regulatory signals such as hormones, growth and differentiating factors. When this environment is damaged, the regenerative sequalae follows a programmed pattern, and the capacity for successful recovery is often dependent on the extent of the injury.

Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 Stimulates Angiogenesis in Developing Tumors

Molecular Cancer Research, 2004
Abstract Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 (BMP-2) is highly overexpressed in the majority of patient-derived lung carcinomas. However, a mechanism revealing its role in cancer has not been established. Here we report that BMP-2 enhances the neovascularization of developing tumors. Recombinant BMP-2 stimulated blood vessel formation in tumors

Bone Formation with Use of rhBMP-2 (Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2)*

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1997
We examined the effect of rhBMP-2 (recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2), delivered in a porous poly(DL-lactic acid) implant, on bone formation in a critical-sized defect in the radial diaphysis in rabbits. A unilateral segmental defect, twenty millimeters long, was created in the radius in ninety-six skeletally mature New Zealand White ...
