Generation of optimized preparations of bone morphogenetic proteins for bone regeneration [PDF]

open access: yesThe Ukrainian Biochemical Journal, 2016
Correction of inherited skeletal abnormalities, traumas affecting wide bone areas and non-healing fractures require efficient bone formation and regeneration.

Bone morphogenetic protein-2 influence on metabolic activity and proteoglycan synthesis by intervertebral disc cells

open access: yesActa Biomedica Scientifica, 2016
Modern therapeutic strategies for intervertebral disc repair mainly focus on targeting molecular pathways of extracellular matrix degeneration. Anabolic strategies for regeneration are aimed to increase production of major extracellular molecules ...

Heterodimeric BMP-2/7 antagonizes the inhibition of all-trans retinoic acid and promotes the osteoblastogenesis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
OBJECTIVES: Hypervitaminosis A and alcoholism can result in a low mineral density and compromised regenerative capacity of bone, thus delaying implant osteointegration.

Association of Bone Morphogenetic Proteins With Otosclerosis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bone and Mineral Research, 2008
Abstract We studied the role of polymorphisms in 13 candidate genes on the risk of otosclerosis in two large independent case-control sets. We found significant association in both populations with BMP2 and BMP4, implicating these two genes in the pathogenesis of this disease.

Current Methods for the Treatment of Alveolar Cleft

open access: yesArchives of Plastic Surgery, 2017
Alveolar cleft is a tornado-shaped bone defect in the maxillary arch. The treatment goals for alveolar cleft are stabilization and provision of bone continuity to the maxillary arch, permitting support for tooth eruption, eliminating oronasal fistulas ...

Induction of bone formation in abdominal implants constituted by collagen sponges embedded with plant‐based human transforming growth factor family proteins in ectopic dog model

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, 2014
Background Trauma, osteomyelitis, bone tumour resections and congenital deformities are the main causes of bone deficiency in which autologous graft is the preferred treatment, but usually the bone supplies are limited.

Structural and Metabolic Changes in Bone

open access: yesAnimals, 2022
As an essential component of the skeleton, bone tissue provides solid support for the body and protects vital organs. Bone tissue is a reservoir of calcium, phosphate, and other ions that can be released or stored in a controlled manner to provide ...

Genetics of ovulation rate in farm animals [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary World, 2013
Rate of ovulation (i.e. fecundity) is largely influenced by both genetic and environmental factors. The ovarian growth factorsincluding members of bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) play a central role in determining ovulation quota and litter size ...

Functional analysis of alleged NOGGIN mutation G92E disproves its pathogenic relevance.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
We identified an amino acid change (p.G92E) in the Bone Morphogenetic Protein antagonist NOGGIN in a 22-month-old boy who presented with a unilateral brachydactyly type B phenotype. Brachydactyly type B is a skeletal malformation that has been associated
