Antimutagenic properties of several kinds of rice as tested upon yeast strain Saccharomyces cerevisiae D7 [PDF]
The aim of this work was to study antimutagenic and antioxidant properties of water extracts of various types of rice. Antioxidant activity, total phenolic andflavonoid contents were measured spectrophotometrically.

Mango peel dietary fibre: Composition and associated bound phenolics
Dietary fibre and polyphenols are widely used as functional food ingredients. In this study, carbohydrate composition and bound phenolics in dietary fibre of mango peels were determined. Total dietary fibre content was in the range of 40.6–72.5%. Galactose, glucose and arabinose were the major neutral sugars in insoluble and soluble dietary fibres ...

This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

Composition and content of phenolic acids and avenanthramides in commercial oat products: are oats an important polyphenol source for consumers? [PDF]
Oats contain a range of phenolic acids and avenanthramides which may have health benefits. Analysis of 22 commercial oat products (oat bran concentrate, oat bran, flaked oats, rolled oats and oatcakes) using HPLC-DAD detected eleven bound and thirteen ...

This study investigates thermo‐chemical processes during high‐temperature testing of two commercial MgO‐C brick grades, one containing 47.5 wt.% MgO‐C recyclate. Using ETV, DTA/TG‐MS, XRD, and SEM/EDS/EBSD, mechanisms such as carbothermal reduction of magnesia, impurity incorporation into the secondary MgO surface layer, and calcium‐rich phase ...

Anatomy, histochemistry and biochemistry of glucovanillin, oleoresin and mucilage accumulation sites in green mature vanilla pod (Vanilla planifolia; Orchidaceae): A comprehensive and critical reexamination [PDF]
Introduction.

The formation of nonmetallic inclusions (NMIs) was investigated in this study, carrying out immersion tests for 30 min at a temperature of 1600°C with liquid high‐silicon electrical steel (Si ≈ 3 mass‐%) and different MgO–C refractories. Conventional MgO–C refractories were considered, as well as MgO–C refractories containing MgO–C recyclate and ...
