BRCA and Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesJOP : Journal of the pancreas, 2013
Germline mutations in BRCA genes have been associated with pancreatic cancer. Laboratory and clinical data suggest that patients with BRCA mutations may be more responsive to therapy consisting of conventional chemotherapy with a poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor (PARPi).

Response of Estrogen-Receptor-Positive Metastatic Breast Cancer to Olaparib in Late-Line Therapy

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncology, 2019
Monotherapy with olaparib provides significant benefits over standard therapy in patients with a germline BRCA mutation and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) negative metastatic breast cancer, who had two or fewer previous chemotherapeutic ...

Excellent Response to Olaparib in a Patient with Metastatic Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma with Germline BRCA1 Mutation after Progression on FOLFIRINOX: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncology, 2020
Metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has a dismal prognosis. Until recently, cytotoxic chemotherapy was the only treatment option. Currently, there are subgroups of patients with PDAC either with somatic or germline mutations who are ...

BRCA immunohistochemistry for screening of BRCA mutation in epithelial ovarian cancer patients

open access: yesGynecologic Oncology Reports, 2020
To evaluate BRCA1/2 immunohistochemistry (IHC) as a screening test for germline BRCA1/2 in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), tumor tissue from 105 EOC patients who had germline BRCA mutations, including 9 BRCA1 mutations, 6 BRCA2 mutations and 90 no BRCA mutations, were studied. Paraffin-embedded tissue blocks were stained for BRCA1 and BRCA2.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
