A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Effect of the C-bridge length on the ultraviolet-resistance of oxycarbosilane low-k films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The ultra-violet (UV) and vacuum ultra-violet (VUV) resistance of bridging alkylene groups in organosilica films has been investigated. Similar to the Si-CH3 (methyl) bonds, the Si-CH2-Si (methylene) bonds are not affected by 5.6 eV irradiation.

Myocardial bridge

open access: yesFolia Morphologica, 2020
Myocardial bridging (MB) is an anatomical variant in which an epicardial coronary artery passes under a bridge of myocardium. The most commonly affected vessel is the left anterior descending coronary artery, although other branches such as the marginal branches, diagonal branches and posterior descending right coronary artery may be occasionally ...

Insights into the production and evolution of lantibiotics from a computational analysis of peptides associated with the lanthipeptide cyclase domain

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science
Lanthipeptides are a large group of ribosomally encoded peptides cyclized by thioether and methylene bridges, which include the lantibiotics, lanthipeptides with antimicrobial activity. There are over 100 experimentally characterized lanthipeptides, with

Cleavage of Ge–S and C–H bonds in the reaction of electron-deficient [Os₃(CO)₈(μ-H)(μ₃-Ph₂PCH₂P(Ph)C₆H₄)] with Ph₃GeSPh: Generation of thiophenol derivatives [Os₃(CO)₈(μ-H)(μ-SPh)(μ-dppm)] and [Os₃(CO)₇(μ-H)(μ-SPh)(μ₃-SC₆H₄)(μ-dppm)] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Heating the electron-deficient [Os₃(CO)₈(μ-H)(μ₃-Ph₂PCH₂P(Ph)C₆H₄)] (1) and Ph₃GeSPh in benzene at 80 °C led to the thiolato bridged compounds, [Os₃(CO)₈(μ-H)(μ-SPh)(μ-dppm)] (2) and [Os₃(CO)₇(μ-H)(μ-SPh)(μ₃-SC₆H₄)(μ-dppm)] (3), formed by cleavage of Ge ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Citing for High Impact [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The question of citation behavior has always intrigued scientists from various disciplines. While general citation patterns have been widely studied in the literature we develop the notion of citation projection graphs by investigating the citations ...
