Adding Broccoli to the Biosensor Menu [PDF]
Small-molecule metabolites regulate many cellular processes but are often present at low concentrations, confounding studies of their signaling networks. In this issue of Cell Chemical Biology, You et al. (2019) describe RNA "integrators" that measure the concentrations of metabolites in live cells to enable in-depth studies of signaling pathways.

ABSTRACT Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is characterized by cardiomyocyte death, excessive oxidative stress, inflammation, and ferroptosis, which collectively limit the efficacy of reperfusion therapy. In this study, we investigated whether kaempferol (KAE), a natural flavonol with antioxidative and antiinflammatory properties, could ...

Review of nutrition management of pediatric intestinal pseudo‐obstruction
Abstract Chronic intestinal pseudo‐obstruction (CIPO) is a rare, heterogeneous, and debilitating disorder characterized by profound intestinal dysmotility and severe nutrition challenges. Its presentation resembles that of mechanical bowel obstruction, but CIPO occurs in the absence of luminal obstruction.

EFFECTS OF BROCCOLI-CROPPED SOIL ON THE GROWTH OF BROCCOLI, CABBAGE, AND CAULIFLOWER [PDF]
Broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower were grown in the greenhouse on fallowed soil (FS) or on soil previously cropped with broccoli CBS) for three years. Fertilization levels (kg/ha) were none, 67N-22P, and 135N-44P. Inhibition of root and shoot growth components, and leaf color was evaluated at 30, 44, 58, and 72 days after seeding.

Wpływ gotowania na skład i aktywność antyoksydacyjną kwasów fenolowych wyizolowanych z brokułu
The aim of the paper was to evaluate the effect of hydrothermal treatment on total content and antioxidant activity of phenolic acids isolated from broccoli. The polyphenol compounds were extracted from fresh and frozen broccoli (before and after boiling)

Transport engineering as a strategy to realize rapeseed's potential as a protein‐rich food
The heavily pesticide‐dependent rapeseed is an under‐utilized protein source for food owing to anti‐nutritional glucosinolates. Transport engineering technology may reduce glucosinolates in seeds while increasing defense in vegetative parts. Abstract Rapeseed is the world's second‐largest oilseed crop, and the low‐value press cake that remains after ...
