Robust Regression via Hard Thresholding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We study the problem of Robust Least Squares Regression (RLSR) where several response variables can be adversarially corrupted. More specifically, for a data matrix X \in R^{p x n} and an underlying model w*, the response vector is generated as y = X'w* +

Phase measurements at the theoretical limit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
It is well known that the result of any phase measurement on an optical mode made using linear optics has an introduced uncertainty in addition to the intrinsic quantum phase uncertainty of the state of the mode.

Purification and Structural Analysis of the Anti-Viral Protein BST-2 [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2014
BST-2 is a human extracellular transmembrane protein that inhibits the release of viruses such as HIV-1 and Ebola from the cell surface. Viruses can evade this inhibition through antagonistic viral protein interactions with BST-2. The BST-2 is a homo-dimer that forms a coiled-coil connected by three disulfide bonds. Recent cellular studies suggest that

Thermal‐induced fracture evolution and acoustic signature of Beishan granite: Insights into tensile strength of barrier system for high‐level radioactive waste disposal

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The tensile strength of granite, a proposed host for nuclear waste, degrades severely above 400°C. We link this to specific microcracking patterns captured by acoustic emission, establishing a scientific basis for assessing repository safety under thermal load.

Microstructure and dielectric properties of sub-micron hollow sphere (Ba(0.6)Sr(0.4))TiO(3)/PVDF composites

open access: yesIET Nanodielectrics, 2019
Hollow sphere (Ba(0.6)Sr(0.4))TiO(3) (HS-BST) powders with sub-micron size and different shell thickness were synthesised through template-assisted method. HS-BST/poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) composites were prepared using tape casting method.

Comparison of properties determined using electromechanical assessment (Arthro-BST™) with macroscopic and histological properties in symptomatic human articular cartilage of the hip

open access: yesArthritis Research & Therapy, 2021
Background Cartilage degeneration is assessed using various methods. Although macroscopic evaluation can directly measure cartilage degeneration, it cannot accurately assess cartilage properties.

Cardiac remodelling in the era of the recommended four pillars heart failure medical therapy

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1029-1044, April 2025.
Abstract Cardiac remodelling is a key determinant of worse cardiovascular outcome in patients with heart failure (HF) and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). It affects both the left ventricle (LV) structure and function as well as the left atrium (LA) and the right ventricle (RV).

Prognostic impact of iron deficiency in new‐onset chronic heart failure: Danish Heart Failure Registry insights

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1346-1357, April 2025.
Abstract Aims Iron deficiency (ID) is prevalent in chronic heart failure (HF) but lacks a consensus definition. This study evaluates the prevalence and the prognostic impact of ID using different criteria on all‐cause and cardiovascular mortality, as well as first hospitalization for HF in patients with new‐onset chronic HF.

Induction of cytochrome P450 2C9 and P‐glycoprotein activity by antiseizure medications: A systematic review and network meta‐analysis

open access: yesEpileptic Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Antiseizure medications (ASMs) can induce the activity of drug‐metabolizing enzymes and drug transporters, including cytochrome P450 (CYP)2C9 and P‐glycoprotein (P‐gp). Our objective was to comparatively assess the effects of ASMs on exposure to clinical CYP2C9 and P‐gp substrates.
