Site-Directed Mutagenesis of HIV-1 vpu Gene Demonstrates Two Clusters of Replication-Defective Mutants with Distinct Ability to Down-Modulate Cell Surface CD4 and Tetherin [PDF]
HIV-1 Vpu acts positively on viral infectivity by mediating CD4 degradation in endoplasmic reticulum and enhances virion release by counteracting a virion release restriction factor, tetherin.

Manipulating Atomic Disorder and Mesoscale Architectures for High‐Efficiency Thermoelectric Modules
The in situ reaction of PbTiO3 precursor reacts in situ with the Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3 matrix, effectively enlarging the energy barrier for minority carrier excitation and suppressing bipolar diffusion, and predominantly scattering mid‐to‐low frequency phonons. Ultimately, a single thermoelectric module was fabricated to achieve a competitive efficiency of ∼7%

ZnSb reduces carrier concentration and suppresses Te volatilization, while Se substitution within QLs softens phonons and enhances anharmonicity. Swapped bilayers near twin boundaries strengthen phonon scattering and interlayer bonding. As a result, the optimal sample achieves an ultra‐high zT ∼1.51, cooling temperature difference of ∼70 K, power ...

Tetherin restricts direct cell-to-cell infection of HIV-1 [PDF]
Background Tetherin (BST-2/CD317/HM1.24) is an interferon (IFN)-inducible factor of the innate immune system, recently shown to exert antiviral activity against HIV-1 and other enveloped viruses by tethering nascent viral particles to the ...

Simian immunodeficiency virus envelope glycoprotein counteracts tetherin/BST-2/CD317 by intracellular sequestration [PDF]
Tetherin is an IFN-inducible restriction factor that inhibits HIV-1 particle release in the absence of the HIV-1 countermeasure, viral protein U (Vpu). Although ubiquitous in HIV-1 and simian immunodeficiency viruses from chimpanzees, greater spot nosed monkeys, mustached monkeys, and Mona monkeys, other primate lentiviruses do not encode a Vpu protein.

The dielectric and ferroelectric properties of (Ba0.5Sr0.5)TiO3-doped (Bi0.5Na0.5)TiO3 lead-free ceramics [PDF]
This work prepares (Ba0.5Sr0.5)TiO3 (BST)-doped (Bi1∕2Na1∕2)TiO3 (NBT) lead free ceramics through conventional solid reaction method and analyzes the doping effect of BST on phases, microstructure, dielectric and ferroelectric properties.

ABSTRACT The rapid advancement of flexible and wearable electronics demands printable thin‐film capacitors that combine high dielectric performance with scalable fabrication. However, achieving this balance in polymer dielectrics remains challenging, as enhancements in dielectric constant typically come at the expense of increased loss and reduced ...

Expedient Discovery of a Metallaphotoredox Cyanomethylation for Synthesizing α‐Aryl Nitriles
A metallaphotoredox cyanomethylation reaction has been developed for the synthesis of valuable α‐aryl nitrile intermediates. The methodology was successfully applied to diverse medicinally‐relevant substrates, providing an expedient route to anti‐cancer Senexin compounds, while also removing the need for toxic cyanide reagents. The mechanism was probed
