Absorption and photoluminescence of Buriti oil/polystyrene and Buriti oil/poly(methyl methacrylate) blends

European Polymer Journal, 2006
Abstract This work reports the preparation and characterization of Buriti ( Mauritia flexuosa L.) oil/polystyrene (PS) and Buriti oil/poly(methyl methacrylate) blends. The Buriti is an abundant palm tree of the Amazon region. This oil was used because of its chemical composition (high concentrations of oleic acid, tocopherols and carotenoids ...

Thermal and structural behavior of Buriti oil/poly(methyl methacrylate) and Buriti oil/polystyrene materials

Journal of Polymer Research, 2008
This work reports the thermal and structural changes promoted by Buriti (Mauritia flexuosa L.) oil incorporation into polystyrene (PS) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) matrices. Buriti oil, which was used due to its high β-carotene content has a good thermal stability and can provide some stability to PS and PMMA as it was shown by TG and TMA data.

Biotechnology applied to the buriti fruit (Mauritia flexuosa Mart.)

2023
Plastic has environmentally unfavorable factors. First, it is about its origin, coming from petroleum, a non-renewable source, hydrophobic materials that do not allow the action of microorganisms in its molecular chain, taking hundreds of years to decompose.

Microparticles of buriti oleosomes produced with different wall materials

Food Research International
Buriti (Mauritia flexuosa L.f.) is an Amazonian oleaginous palm that yields lipid-rich fruits containing high levels of bioactive compounds, such as monounsaturated fatty acids, tocopherols, sterols, and carotenoids. These bioactives are naturally stored in highly stable structures called oleosomes (OBs), which are intrinsic oil-in-water emulsions ...

Brazilian Buriti Palm Fiber (Mauritia flexuosa Mart.)

2016
The buriti (Mauritia flexuosa Mart.) is a palm tree present in the Brazilian territory, mainly in the Amazon Forest and Cerrado biomes, and throughout South America. It is known as the “Tree of Life” because all of its parts can be fully used, being the main source of income for many people in rural communities.

A Possible Organic Solar Cell Based on Buriti Oil

ECS Transactions, 2009
This work proposes a new approach - the possible production of organic solar cells, based on Buriti oil. We propose the formation of an active layer, three types of mixture, always exploring the use of Buriti oil. The active layers were deposited by spin coating the mixture of Buriti oil: polystyrene (PS), Buriti oil: poly (3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and
