Preparation and Characterization of Monoclonal Antibodies to a Butyrivibrio sp. and Their Potential Use in the Identification of Rumen Butyrivibrios, Using an Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology, 1986
SUMMARY: Antisera and monoclonal antibodies (McAb) were prepared against the proteolytic rumen bacterium Butyrivibrio strain PI-7, and their reaction with bacterial antigens was quantified by using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. A dye-release assay was developed to assess the binding of fixed bacterial cells to microtitration plates.

Milk Fatty Acid Dynamics in Cows Grazing Standard and Multispecies Pastures Under Two Management Systems

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research, Volume 69, Issue 2, April 2026.
This study evaluated the influence of three pasture‐management systems on milk fatty acid (FA) profiles in New Zealand dairy cows: standard–contemporary (STD–CON), diverse–contemporary (DIV–CON), and diverse–regenerative (DIV–REG). The STD–CON pastures consisted of ryegrass–clover, whereas diverse pastures included up to 16 species of grasses, legumes,

Effect of feeding the stem and leaf of Glycyrrhiza uralensis on ruminal fermentation and microbial populations in dairy cow

open access: yesSiliao yanjiu, 2021
The experiment studied the effect of feed the stem and leaf of Glycyrrhiza uralensis on ruminal fermentation and microbial populations in dairy cow. 20 healthy (258±12) d Holstein dairy cows were used in a paired design with milk yield, lactation time ...

Multi‐Omic Insights Into Mediterranean Diet‐Associated Microbiota

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 7, 15 April 2026.
Mediterranean diet (MD) influences the composition of the gut mycobiome. Key foods of MD are related to bacterial and fungal composition. Combining metagenomics and metatranscriptomics tracks the gene expression profiles of gut microbiota. Metatranscriptomics identifies the transcriptionally active members of the microbiota that overexpressed genes ...

Relationship between rumen microbiota and pregnancy toxemia in ewes

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
IntroductionPregnancy toxemia (PT) is a nutritional metabolic disease of ewes in late pregnancy. This study aimed to reveal the relationship between rumen microbiota and PT.MethodsWe selected 10 healthy ewes (CON) and 10 pregnancy toxemia ewes (PT) at ...

Use of the oral microbiota as screening test to identify children at risk for caries development. A systematic review of longitudinal studies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences, Volume 134, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract This study investigated trends in oral microbiota composition (index test) that could indicate potential candidates to identify children at risk for dental caries development compared with visual/tactile examination (reference test). MEDLINE/PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Scopus, Lilacs, SciELO, and Google Scholar databases were searched up ...

Role of the protozoan Isotricha prostoma, liquid-, and solid-associated bacteria in rumen biohydrogenation of linoleic acid

open access: yesAnimal, 2009
From the simultaneous accumulation of hydrogenation intermediates and the disappearance of Isotricha prostoma after algae supplementation, we suggested a role of this ciliate and/or its associated bacteria in rumen biohydrogenation of unsaturated fatty ...

Seasonal Dietary Changes Drive Adaptive Responses in the Gut Microbiota and Function of Myotis chinensis

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
This research clarifies the synergistic adaptive interactions between seasonal foraging strategies and gut microbiome composition in Chinese chiropterans. Microbial diversity and community structure exhibit seasonal fluctuations, with functional metabolic pathways aligning to host reproductive cycles and hibernation physiology, thereby substantiating ...

Understanding the evolution and metabolic capabilities of the Butyrivibrio group

open access: yesAccess Microbiology, 2019
Exploring and understanding the phylogeny of the Butyrivibrio group is imperative if we are ever to fully understand the consortium of ruminal microbial enzymes that are responsible for the catalysis of multifaceted reactions, such as biohydrogenation.
