Emendation of Bacteroidaceae and Butyrivibrio and Descriptions of Desulfomonas gen. nov. and Ten New Species in the Genera Desulfomonas, Butyrivibrio, Eubacterium, Clostridium, and Ruminococcus [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic Bacteriology, 1976
The family Bacteroidaceae is emended to include bacteria that are monotrichous or lophotrichous. The genus Butyrivibrio is emended to include lophotrichous bacteria. Desulfomonas, a new genus of nonmotile, nonsporeforming, gram-negative, anaerobic, sulfate-reducing rods, and 10 new species of anaerobes, Desulfomonas pigra, Butyrivibrio crossotus ...

Effect of Social Rank on Gut Microbes and Their Metabolites of Greater Long‐Tailed Hamsters (Tscherskia triton)

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Social rank in greater long‐tailed hamsters (Tscherskia triton) shapes gut microbiota composition and metabolite profiles. Dominant males exhibit a “high‐vigilance, metabolically activated” phenotype, with elevated aggression and specific gut microbiota enriched in energy‐harvesting taxa and fecal queuine.

The Role of the Oral Microbiome in Circulating Metabolic Biomarkers and the Influence of Air Pollution

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims The oral microbiome is at the frontline for environmental exposure and plays an important role in human metabolism. This study explores the relationship between PM2.5 exposure, the oral microbiome, and metabolic biomarkers including ghrelin, resistin, and insulin.

Tannin-tolerant bacteria from crossbred Holstein x Zebu cows

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira, 2011
The objective of this work was to isolate and characterize tannin-tolerant ruminal bacteria from crossbred Holstein x Zebu cows fed a chopped mixture of elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum), young stems of "angico-vermelho" (Parapiptadenia rigida), and ...

Effects of High-Forage Diets Containing Raw Flaxseeds or Soybean on In Vitro Ruminal Fermentation, Gas Emission, and Microbial Profile

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2021
Lipid metabolism plays an important role in the energy economy of ruminants. However, its interactions of fat, rumen fermentation, gas emission, and microorganisms are not yet clear.

An Exo-D-galacturonanase of Butyrivibrio fibrisolvens from the Bovine Rumen [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology, 1985
An intracellular pectinolytic enzyme was isolated from a cell extract of Butyrivibrio fibrisolvens and purified. The optimum pH for enzyme activity was 5.6. The enzyme preferentially degraded de-esterified substrates by hydrolysis of monosaccharide units from the non-reducing end; the only product of degradation was D-galacturonic acid.

Oral Microbiome in Systemic Autoimmune Diseases: A Systematic Review

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The oral cavity represents a key but underexplored interface between host immunity and microbial communities. The aim of this systematic review was to synthesize current literature on oral microbiota alterations in systemic autoimmune diseases.

Gut Lactate Boosts Ruminococcus via Histone Lactylation to Mediate Time‐Restricted Feeding Protection in Crohn's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 33, 15 June 2026.
TRF enriches Ruminococcus, a bacterial genus producing SCFAs, and activates the epithelial HIF‐1α signaling pathway. This mechanism protects the colonic mucosa from inflammatory insults in colitis models. Mechanistically, gut lactate production during starvation and refeeding mediates H4K12la, which increases SLC9A3 expression and creates an acidic gut
