Distribution of Butyrivibrio Fibrisolvens in Nature
Summary Seven strains of anaerobic, gram-negative, monotrichous, butyric acid-producing curved rods have been isolated from fecal material of human beings, rabbits, and horses in concentrations approaching 1×10 6 per gram. No two of the isolates were identical in all physiological reactions, and all strains showed similarities to strains of ...

An Exopectate Lyase of Butyrivibrio fibrisolvens from the Bovine Rumen [PDF]
An extracellular pectinolytic enzyme produced by Butyrivibrio fibrisolvens isolated from the bovine rumen was studied. The enzyme had a pH optimum of 8.0 to 8.5 and was stimulated by Ca2+ and inhibited by EDTA. The products of pectinolysis had an absorption peak at 235 nm and reacted with thiobarbituric acid, indicating a lyase type of action.

Alterations in gut microbiota and metabolite profiles in patients with infantile cholestasis
Background Infantile cholestasis (IC) is the most common hepatobiliary disease in infants, resulting in elevated direct bilirubin levels. Indeed, hepatointestinal circulation impacts bile acid and bilirubin metabolism. This study evaluates changes in the

Fermentation of xylans by Butyrivibrio fibrisolvens and other ruminal bacteria [PDF]
The ability of Butyrivibrio fibrisolvens and other ruminal bacteria (6 species, 18 strains) to ferment a crude xylan from wheat straw or to ferment xylans from larchwood or oat spelts was studied. Liquid cultures were monitored for carbohydrate utilization, cell growth (protein), and fermentation acid production. B. fibrisolvens 49, H17c, AcTF2, and D1

Spent Coffee Grounds Alter Bacterial Communities in Latxa Dairy Ewes
Antimicrobial and antioxidant properties of spent coffee grounds (SCG) make them a potential ingredient in a diet for ruminants. This study investigated the effects of SCG on rumen microbiota.
