The VHL tumor suppressor at the crossroad of protein folding, aggregation, and cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Mutations, environmental stress, and chaperone dysfunction can destabilize pVHL, promoting its conversion from the native folded state into amyloid‐like assemblies. This transition may contribute to protein storage, cell dormancy, survival, and drug resistance.

Glutathione Depletion Induced by c-Myc Downregulation Triggers Apoptosis on Treatment with Alkylating Agents

open access: yesNeoplasia: An International Journal for Oncology Research, 2004
Here we investigate the mechanism(s) involved in the c-Myc-dependent drug response of melanoma cells. By using three M14-derived c-Myc low-expressing clones, we demonstrate that alkylating agents, cisplatin and melphalan, trigger apoptosis in the c-Myc ...

RLIM interacts with c-Myc.

open access: yes, 2016
(A) 293T cells were transfected with HA-RLIM and myc-c-Myc expression vectors and immunoprecipitation was carried out with anti-myc or anti-HA antibodies as indicated. Immunoprecipitates were subjected to WB with anti-HA and anti-myc antibodies. (B) and (

APOBEC3 activity and DNA polymerase‐ε deficiency are associated with distinct IDH1 R132 hotspot mutations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) mutations are highly recurrent in multiple human cancer types, including cholangiocarcinoma and glioma. IDH1 R132C is the most common IDH1 mutation in cholangiocarcinoma and likely arises from APOBEC3A‐ or APOBEC3B‐mediated deamination.

Novel Indolocarbazole Derivative 12-(α-L-arabinopyranosyl)indolo[2,3-a]pyrrolo[3,4-c]carbazole-5,7-dione Is a Preferred c-Myc Guanine Quadruplex Ligand

open access: yesJournal of Nucleic Acids, 2011
The indolocarbazole derivative 12-(α-L-arabinopyranosyl)indolo[2,3-a]pyrrolo[3,4-c]carbazole-5,7-dione (AIC) has demonstrated a high potency (at nanomolar to submicromolar concentrations) towards the NCI panel of human tumor cell lines and transplanted ...

Microcystin-LR stabilizes c-myc protein by inhibiting protein phosphatase 2A in HEK293 cells

open access: yes, 2014
Microcystin-LR is the most toxic and the most frequently encountered toxin produced by the cyanobacteria in the contaminated aquatic environment. Previous studies have demonstrated that Microcystin-LR is a potential carcinogen for animals and humans, and

Presentation_1_Z-Ligustilide Induces c-Myc-Dependent Apoptosis via Activation of ER-Stress Signaling in Hypoxic Oral Cancer Cells.pptx

open access: yes, 2022
Z-ligustilide (or ligustilide) is found in Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels and may exert potential benefits in cancer treatment. Previous research has reported that ligustilide has anti-cancer effects on several types of cancer cells. However, studies of

Unique circulating miRNAome signatures captured with distinct molecular states in Lynch syndrome and sporadic colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNA profiles distinguish nonmalignant Lynch syndrome from cancer‐associated Lynch syndrome, sporadic colorectal cancer, and healthy controls. Age‐stratified analysis reveals disease‐specific regulatory states, and a six‐miRNA panel shows concordant separation in an independent colorectal tissue cohort.

Life or cell death: identifying c-Myc regulated genes in two distinct tissues [PDF]

open access: yes
The c-myc oncogene is over-expressed or deregulated in many human cancers. c-myc encodes a transcription factor, the oncoprotein c-Myc (Myc), which acts as a master regulator of genes involved in such diverse cellular processes as replication and growth,
