Significance of Glomerular Deposition of C3c and C3d in IgA Nephropathy
American Journal of Nephrology, 2000Background: Complement activation plays an important role in the pathogenesis of IgA nephropathy. The clinico-pathological significance of the glomerular deposition of complement breakdown products, C3c and C3d in IgA nephropathy remains to be clarified.

Production of antibody against C3c epitopes which are inaccessible on native C3
Journal of Immunological Methods, 1983Anti-C3c antiserum was induced by immunizing rabbits with autologous erythrocytes coated with human C3b/C3bi. By absorption with human plasma this antiserum was rendered specific for C3c epitopes which are not expressed on native C3. This specificity may be analogous to that of immunoconglutinin.

An intermediate gel rocket immunoelectrophoresis (IRI) suitable for direct quantitation of complement split products with C3c specificity is described. The technique represents a simple, quick, and reproducible method for the assessment of complement activity in biological fluids in diseases.

Circulating complement (C3),C3c and immune complexes in ABPA patients
Serodiagnosis and Immunotherapy in Infectious Disease, 1990Abstract Complement (C3), its split product (C3c), CRP and circulating immune complexes were studied in 10 patients with allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) and compared with 10 age and sex matched controls. An insignificant decrease and significant increase in the levels of C3 and C3c, respectively, was observed in ABPA patients in ...

THE QUANTITATION OF C3d BY ROUTINE METHODS AFTER THE DIRECT ABSORPTION OF HUMAN PLASMA WITH ANTI-C3c
Apmis, 1985The immunological methods for quantitating C3d in plasma require first the removal of less fragmented intermediates as well as the intact C3. We describe an alternative method for the quantitation of C3d in human plasma. The components which should be removed are absorbed (precipitated) directly in the plasma by a specific anti‐C3c antiserum.

Plasma C3c in immune-mediated neurological diseases: a preliminary report
Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, 1991Plasma C3c levels were examined in 56 patients with immune (27) and non-immune (29) mediated neurological diseases by crossed immunoelectrophoresis. Plasma samples were collected during the active phase of illness in both groups, usually within 7 days of admission.

The fragments that result from the inactivation of C3b have not been completely characterized. Initial inactivation is catalyzed by the protease factor I, which, in the presence of its cofactor (factor H), cleaves two peptide bonds in the alpha'-chain of
