Inhibition of Lymphocyte Blastogenesis by C3c and C3d [PDF]

open access: bronzeJournal of Immunology, 1979
Abstract The C3 cleavage products C3c and C3d were tested for their ability to alter the immunoproliferative response of human peripheral mononuclear cells to the antigens SLO and SK-SD, and to the mitogens PHA and PWM. It was found that both C3c (30 to 120 µg/ml) and C3d (10 to 40 µg/ml) inhibited lymphocyte blastogenesis in the ...

Generation of a C3c specific monoclonal antibody and assessment of C3c as a putative inflammatory marker derived from complement factor C3

open access: yesJournal of Immunological Methods, 2010
There is a general need for markers of systemic inflammation in acute or chronic diseases, where complement activation is involved. Available methods to monitor complement activation are elaborate and of low sensitivity; they include haemolytic assays (CH50), quantification of fluid phase terminal complex (C5b-C9) and quantification of complement split

THE QUANTITATION OF C3d BY ROUTINE METHODS AFTER THE DIRECT ABSORPTION OF HUMAN PLASMA WITH ANTI‐C3c

open access: closedActa Pathologica, Microbiologica, Et Immunologica Scandinavica Section C, Immunology, 1985
The immunological methods for quantitating C3d in plasma require first the removal of less fragmented intermediates as well as the intact C3. We describe an alternative method for the quantitation of C3d in human plasma. The components which should be removed are absorbed (precipitated) directly in the plasma by a specific anti‐C3c antiserum.

Production of antibody against C3c epitopes which are inaccessible on native C3

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1983
Anti-C3c antiserum was induced by immunizing rabbits with autologous erythrocytes coated with human C3b/C3bi. By absorption with human plasma this antiserum was rendered specific for C3c epitopes which are not expressed on native C3. This specificity may be analogous to that of immunoconglutinin.

C3C--Code for Cognizant Contracting: A Pathway to the Future of Online Contracting

open access: greenSSRN Electronic Journal, 1999
Despite the global embrace of electronic commerce, there has been a surprising lack of attention to the host of new legal issues raised by online contracting. The attempts by the ALI and NCCUSL to clarify this uncertain legal landscape through the creation of a new uniform set of default rules for online transactions, first in the guise of U.C.C ...

A single step immunoelectrophoresis method for the quantitation of complement C3c in biological fluids

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1983
An intermediate gel rocket immunoelectrophoresis (IRI) suitable for direct quantitation of complement split products with C3c specificity is described. The technique represents a simple, quick, and reproducible method for the assessment of complement activity in biological fluids in diseases.

Circulating complement (C3),C3c and immune complexes in ABPA patients

Serodiagnosis and Immunotherapy in Infectious Disease, 1990
Abstract Complement (C3), its split product (C3c), CRP and circulating immune complexes were studied in 10 patients with allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) and compared with 10 age and sex matched controls. An insignificant decrease and significant increase in the levels of C3 and C3c, respectively, was observed in ABPA patients in ...

Total salivary IgA, serum C3c and IgA in obese school children

Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, 2002
Studies of the immunologic function in adult obese humans and experimental models indicate that excess adiposity is associated with impairments in host defense mechanisms. The aim of this work was to analyze the secretory and humoral immune system in obese children (n = 105, 55 boys, 50 girls ), between 6 and 13 years of age.

High levels of C3c in the cerebrospinal fluid from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients

open access: yesActa Neurologica Scandinavica, 2009
A study of several parameters of the humoral immunity in the serum and the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of thirteen Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) patients was carried out. A significant increase in CSF C3c was shown. This feature was found to be significantly correlated to the CSF albumin/serum albumin ration (r = 0.70; p less than 0.05) and to the ...
