CA 125 Antigen Is an Effective Diagnostic for External Endometriosis

Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation, 2010
We measured serum levels of CA 125 in 26 patients with external endometriosis, using CA 125 RIA Kits. The normal range was instituted below 39 U/ml. The mean CA 125 level ( ± SD) was 55.1 ± 24.9 U/ml in patients with external endometriosis, the positive rate being 71.4%.

Tumour‐associated antigen CA 125 in patients with ovarian cancer

BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1985
Summary. The serum levels of antigen CA 125 expressed by epithelial ovarian carcinoma were measured in 27 postmenopausal women with ovarian tumours and in 16 controls. Increased serum levels of CA 125 were found in nine (75%) out of 12 patients with ovarian cancer; in three with stage I disease levels were not elevated.

CA-125 Tumor-Associated Antigen in a Patient With Tuberculous Peritonitis

Southern Medical Journal, 1999
A 64-year-old woman with a history of chronic hepatitis B had abdominal pain and ascites, a serum albumin ascitic gradient (SAAG) of 0.8, and an elevated serum CA-125 value. Exploratory laparotomy revealed ascites and obliteration of the abdominal cavity by advanced adhesive disease consistent with carcinomatosis.

Evaluation of the Ovarian Cancer Antigen, CA-125, as a Tumor Marker

Oncology, 2009
The presence of the Ca-125 antigen was tested in the serum of 46 patients with ovarian cancer in order to determine the prognostic value of preoperative levels and its usefulness for monitoring the clinical response in longitudinal studies; survival (S) and progression-free survival (PFS) were also evaluated. In our series, the specificity of the assay

Tumor antigen CA 125 as a marker of ovarian epithelial carcinoma

Gynecologic Oncology, 1987
Serum CA 125 was measured in 100 patients with ovarian epithelial carcinoma at diagnosis and in follow-up. Levels over 35 U/ml were found in 43 (75.4%) of 57 cases at diagnosis and in 21 (48.8%) of 43 cases in follow-up. A correlation was found between tumor burden and marker positivity: advanced Stages (III and IV) and recurrences had 84.2 and 91% of ...

Complement-inhibiting effect of ovarian cancer antigen CA-125

Cancer Letters, 2006
Malignant transformation of ovarian cells of surface epithelial origin is associated with expression of a membrane-spanning glycoprotein, cancer antigen (CA)-125. The bulk of the putative CA-125 molecule is comprised a very large, folded, multivalent, mucin-like exodomain.

Immunoelectronmicroscopic Demonstration of Surface Tumor Antigen Ca 125

Ultrastructural Pathology, 1984
Tissue from a serous cystadenocarcinoma of the ovary was incubated with a monoclonal antibody, OC 125, which reacts with a surface tumor antigen in serous, endometrioid, and some clear cell carcinomas of the ovary. Electron microscopic preparation demonstrated the surface nature of the antigen. It is seen as a linear electron-dense deposit that extends

CA 125 antigen in human amniotic fluid and fetal membranes

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1986
The cancer antigen CA 125 is manifest by serous cystadenocarcinoma of the ovary and to a lesser extent by other gynecologic and nongynecologic tumors. Its presence was screened for in normal human fetal tissues and fluids. Appreciable quantities of CA 125 were discovered in amniotic fluid by both a dot blot assay and the commercially available ...

Immunotoxicological characteristics of preparations based on carcinoembryonic antigen and mucin containing CA 125 antigen

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2000
Experiments on male hybrid mice demonstrated that specific immunotherapy with preparations based on carcinoembryonal antigen and mucin containing CA 125 antigen was not associated with general toxicity, local irritating effect, and hepatorenal dysfunction.

Cellular DNA Content and CA-125 Antigen Expression in Ovarian Carcinomas

Oncology, 2009
Tumor tissue specimens obtained at the time of disease diagnosis from patients with ovarian carcinoma were analyzed for cellular DNA content and CA-125 antigen expression. The presence or absence of aneuploidy did not influence the expression of the CA-125 antigen.
