Study of p53 immunostaining in the gastric epithelium of cagA‐positive and cagA‐negative Helicobacter pylori gastritis [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 2002
AbstractBACKGROUNDp53 mutations are an early event in the multistep progression of gastric carcinoma. These mutations are often present in dysplastic and intestinal metaplastic gastric epithelium. However, the presence of immunohistochemically detectable p53 protein and p53 mutations in nondysplastic/nonmetaplastic gastric mucosa is more controversial.

MYC in Oncogenesis and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
The MYC oncogene family (c‐MYC, N‐MYC, L‐MYC) functions as a central transcriptional hub orchestrating cancer progression through multiple interconnected pathways. This graphical abstract illustrates MYC's role as a multidimensional regulator positioned at the nexus of tumor microenvironment remodeling, metabolic reprogramming, and therapeutic ...

IMMUNOLOGIC MONITORING OF HELICOBACTER PYLORI PERSISTENCE IN THE ORGANISM

open access: yesЖурнал микробиологии, эпидемиологии и иммунобиологии, 2015
Generalized results of 15-year prospective studies of frequency of occurrence and dynamics of circulation ofpathogenetically significant LPS/O-antigens, high molecular weight proteins, including CagA, and VacA of Helicobacter pylori in biological media ...

The effect of CagA status on response to Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy in Western Turkey

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2001
If cytotoxin-associated gene A (CagA) status affects the response rates of therapy, then it may be possible to predict Helicobacter pylori eradication rates. We aimed to evaluate the response to eradication treatment of H.

Mixed Infection with cagA Positive and cagA Negative Strains of Helicobacter pylori Lowers Disease Burden in The Gambia [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
The prevalence of Helicobacter pylori including strains with putatively virulent genotypes is high, whereas the H. pylori-associated disease burden is low, in Africa compared to developed countries. In this study, we investigated the prevalence of virulence-related H. pylori genotypes and their association with gastroduodenal diseases in The Gambia.DNA

Clinical Management of Helicobacter Infection in Captive Baboons (Papio anubis and Papio hamadryas), and Isolation and Molecular Characterization of Three Novel Helicobacter Species

open access: yesJournal of Medical Primatology, Volume 55, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Helicobacter spp. are gastric or enterohepatic bacteria that can be commensal, opportunistic, or pathogenic. Few studies have evaluated Helicobacter spp. in baboons. Methods Twenty‐seven captive baboons were surveyed for Helicobacter spp. by fecal PCR, and a subset evaluated by culture.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 7, Page 1877-1888, July 2026.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Decoding the Mechanism of Action of a Parasite TGFβ Antagonist Inspires the Creation of Cell‐Type‐Specific TGFβ Modulators

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 38, 9 July 2026.
The mammalian TGFβ interacts with ubiquitously expressed TGFBR1 and TGFBR2, and current TGFβ‐targeting agents are non‐cell‐selective. The cooperative interaction of the modular parasite TGFβ antagonist with multiple host (co‐)receptors empowers the design of TGM chimeras and bispecific antibodies that activate or inhibit TGFβ signaling in a cell ...

Helicobacter pylori Western cagA genotype in Egyptian patients with upper gastrointestinal disease

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Medical Human Genetics, 2018
Background: Infection with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) causes persistent gastritis that may progress to fatal gastric cancer. The cytotoxin-associated gene A protein (CagA), encoded by the cytotoxin-associated gene A (cagA) is the main virulence ...
