Calcineurin inhibitor minimisation versus continuation of calcineurin inhibitor treatment for liver transplant recipients

open access: yes, 2012
The therapeutic success of liver transplantation has been largely attributable to the development of effective immunosuppressive treatment regimens. In particular, calcineurin inhibitors were essential in reducing acute rejection and improving early ...

Targeting chronic NFAT activation with calcineurin inhibitors in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

open access: yes, 2020
Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) represents the most common adult lymphoma and can be divided into 2 major molecular subtypes: the germinal center B-cell-like and the aggressive activated B-cell-like (ABC) DLBCL.

Conversion of calcineurin inhibitors with mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitors after kidney transplant

open access: yes, 2013
One way to overcome chronic allograft nephropathy induced by calcineurin inhibitors in immunosuppression protocols for organ transplants is to replace such inhibitors with mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitors, which are not clinically nephrotoxic ...

Discrepant Urinary Findings Between Dipstick Protein and Sulfosalicylic Acid Test in a Patient With Hyaline Casts: A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
In this post‐transplant patient, increased hyaline casts with negative dipstick protein but positive SSA testing occurred during evolving acute kidney injury and resolved with renal recovery. This discordant urinalysis pattern may warrant confirmatory protein testing and correlation with serial renal function in patients at high risk of AKI.

Calpain Proteases and the Evolving Signaling Network in Insect Embryonic Patterning

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part B: Molecular and Developmental Evolution, EarlyView.
Insect embryonic Dorsal‐Ventral (DV) patterning relies on the BMP and Toll pathways to different extents. Calcium‐dependent cystein proteases of the Calpain family also exert an important function to pattern the DV axis. In Drosophila, Calpain A cleaves the Cactus/IkappaB inhibitor and modifies Toll signals in ventral regions of the embryo. In Rhodnius

Endoscopic findings in patients with Shwachman–Diamond syndrome: A report from the North American Shwachman–Diamond syndrome registry

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Shwachman–Diamond syndrome (SDS) is an inherited bone marrow failure disorder, and its endoscopic phenotype is poorly defined. We sought to characterize endoscopic findings in patients with genetically confirmed SDS. Methods Retrospective registry study of 45 patients with biallelic Shwachman–Bodian–Diamond syndrome mutations and ...

Illuminating Streptomyces: Raman Spectroscopy for Antibiotic Detection and Monitoring

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Raman spectroscopy provides a non‐destructive, label‐free approach for studying the chemical diversity of Streptomyces. This review presents its application from detection to chemical characterization of secondary metabolites and monitoring of biosynthetic processes.
