A quantitative model for presynaptic free calcium dynamics during different stimulation protocols [PDF]
The presynaptic free calcium dynamics of neurons due to various stimulation protocols is investigated in a mathematical model. The model includes calcium influx through voltage-dependent calcium channels, calcium buffering by endogenous and exogenous buffers as well as calcium efflux through ATP-driven plasma membrane calcium pumps and sodium/calcium ...

Therapeutic Potential of Calcium Channel Blockers in Eye Diseases [PDF]
Calcium channel blockers, which alter the intracellular calcium concentration by modifying calcium flux across cell membranes and affect various intracellular signaling processes, have been long and widely used to treat essential hypertension and certain

The pharmacology of hSK1 Ca2+-activated K+ channels expressed in mammalian cell lines. [PDF]
The pharmacology of hSK1, a small conductance calcium-activated potassium channel, was studied in mammalian cell lines (HEK293 and COS-7). In these cell types, hSK1 forms an apamin-sensitive channel with an IC(50) for apamin of 8 nM in HEK293 cells and ...

Cav3.2 calcium channel interactions with the epithelial sodium channel ENaC
This study describes the functional interaction between Cav3.2 calcium channels and the Epithelial Sodium Channel (ENaC). β-ENaC subunits showed overlapping expression with endogenous Cav3.2 calcium channels in the thalamus and hypothalamus as detected ...

Involvement of calcium channels Orai3 in the chemoresistance to cisplatin in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) [PDF]
This is the second part of the previous review. In the previous review we suspected that Orai3 channels were involved in lung cancer and more precisely in several cancers. Here we confirm that calcium dysregulation is important for cancer development. in this paper we show that Orai3 is an upstream activator of AKT and we prove that AKT is involved in ...

Block of voltage-gated calcium channels by peptide toxins [PDF]
International audienceVenoms from various predatory species, such as fish hunting molluscs scorpions, snakes and arachnids contain a large spectrum of toxins that include blockers of voltage-gated calcium channels.

Inhibition of calcium channel activation in GH3 cells by static magnetic fields [PDF]
Voltage-activated calcium channel function was examined in cultured GH3 cells using the whole-cell patch clamp technique. Exposure to a 120 mT static magnetic field resulted in a slight reduction in the peak calcium current amplitude and shift in the ...

Transient receptor potential melastatin‐4 (TRPM4) is overexpressed in prostate cancer (PCa). Knockout of TRPM4 resulted in reduced PCa tumor spheroid size and decreased PCa tumor spheroid outgrowth. In addition, lack of TRPM4 increased cell death in PCa tumor spheroids.
