Is spectrin a calmodulin-binding protein?

Biochemistry international, 1984
The binding of calmodulin to spectrin from human erythrocytes has been studied by affinity chromatography on sepharose-calmodulin column. The alpha and beta spectrin chains, dissociated in 6-7 M urea, both bound to the sepharose-calmodulin column, but with different affinities. Both chains were eluted together by EGTA. Binding sites for calmodulin are,

Calmodulin and calmodulin-binding proteins in the renal brush border

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Cell Research, 1987
The calmodulin content of renal brush-border membrane vesicles, prepared by Mg2+-precipitation in EGTA-containing solutions, amounts to 1.8 micrograms per mg protein. The amount and the distribution of this EGTA-insensitive calmodulin was determined in membrane and cytoskeletal fractions prepared from the brush-border membrane vesicles by extraction ...

Identification of calmodulin-binding proteins.

Methods in enzymology, 1990
We have outlined and partially characterized a series of biotinylated calmodulin derivatives that may be useful in the study of calmodulin-binding protein expression, physical points of calmodulin-target interaction, and proteolytic mapping of related calmodulin-binding proteins.

Studies on calmodulin-binding proteins (CaMBPs) in the cilia of Tetrahymena

Experimental Cell Research, 1985
As a first step to elucidate the involvement of calmodulin in Ca2+-dependent regulation of ciliary motility, molecular species and properties of calmodulin-binding proteins (CaMBPs) in Tetrahymena cilia were investigated by a modified [125I]calmodulin overlay method. At least 36 kinds of CaMBPs were detected.
