CAPP-calmodulin: A potent competitive inhibitor of calmodulin actions [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1984
A covalent adduct of norchlorpromazine (CAPP) and calmodulin is a very potent antagonist of calmodulin activation of several enzymes. The phenothiazine‐calmodulin complex (CAPP‐calmodulin) acts as a pure antagonist with phosphodiesterase and myosin kinase or a partial agonist with the phosphoprotein phosphatase, calcineurin.

Calmodulin Antagonists’ Binding Sites on Calmodulin

Pharmacology, 2008
Troponin I inhibited, concentration-dependently, [3H]-N-(6-aminohexyl)-5-chloro-1-naphthalenesulfonamide (W-7) and [3H]-trifluoperazine (TFP) binding to purified bovine brain calmodulin (CaM). Selective oxidation of methionine residues of CaM by N-chlorosuccinimide resulted in a rapid decrease in [3H]-W-7, [3H]-TFP and [14C]-chlorpromazine binding ...

Production of Antibodies to Calmodulin in Rabbits and Enzyme Immunoassays for Calmodulin and Anti-Calmodulin

The Journal of Biochemistry, 1983
The production of anti-calmodulin antibodies in rabbit was examined with the use of performic acid-oxidized calmodulin from bovine brain or an emulsion of native calmodulin and methylated bovine serum albumin as the antigen. The antibodies in rabbit sera were determined serially by means of a sensitive enzyme immunoassay method that uses a mini-column ...
