Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Active 6-D position-pose estimation of a spatial circle using monocular eye-in-hand system
Nuts and bolts are common components in assembly lines. Their position and pose estimation is a vital step for automatic assembling. Although many approaches using a monocular camera have been proposed, few works consider a monocular camera’s active ...

Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Improving Gait Analysis Techniques with Markerless Pose Estimation Based on Smartphone Location
Marker-based 3D motion capture systems, widely used for gait analysis, are accurate but have disadvantages such as cost and accessibility. Whereas markerless pose estimation has emerged as a convenient and cost-effective alternative for gait analysis ...

Sampled visual feedback pose estimation and regulation based on camera frame rates
This paper presents visual feedback 3D pose estimation/regulation methodologies in the sampled data setting by camera frame rates. Vision-based estimation/control problems have been studied by a number of research groups.

Dynamic Pose Estimation Using Multiple RGB-D Cameras [PDF]
Human poses are difficult to estimate due to the complicated body structure and the self-occlusion problem. In this paper, we introduce a marker-less system for human pose estimation by detecting and tracking key body parts, namely the head, hands, and feet.

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

Relative Pose Estimation of Non-Cooperative Space Targets Using a TOF Camera
It is difficult to determine the accurate pose of non-cooperative space targets in on-orbit servicing (OOS). The visual camera is easily affected by the extreme light environment in space, and the scanning lidar will have motion distortion when the ...

This paper presents a novel approach to reducing oxide layers on metal powders using low‐temperature hydrogen dielectric barrier discharge plasmas at atmospheric pressure. Unlike conventional hydrogen‐plasma reductions, the powders do not contact the plasma directly.
