Evolutionary paths of the cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) catalytic subunits. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
3',5'-cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) dependent protein kinase or protein kinase A (PKA) has served as a prototype for the large family of protein kinases that are crucially important for signal transduction in eukaryotic cells.

Localization of the cAMP-dependent protein kinase to the postsynaptic densities by A-kinase anchoring proteins. Characterization of AKAP 79.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1992
Postsynaptic densities (PSD) are a network of proteins located on the internal surface of excitatory synapses just inside the postsynaptic membrane. Enzymes associated with the PSD are optimally positioned to respond to signals transduced across the ...

Control of PKA stability and signalling by RING ligase praja2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Ligand-mediated activation of G-Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) mobilises compartmentalised pulses of second messengers like cAMP. The main cellular effector of cAMP is Protein Kinase A (PKA) which is assembled as inactive holoenzyme consisting of two ...

Arginine Promotes the Expression of Aquaporin-3 and Water Transport in Porcine Trophectoderm Cells Through NO- and cAMP-Dependent Mechanisms

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience-Landmark, 2022
Background: Dietary supplementation with L-arginine (Arg) has been shown to increase the volume of fetal fluids in gestating swine. Aquaporins (AQPs), known as water channel proteins, are essential for embryonic growth and development.

cAMP- and cGMP-elevating agents inhibit GPIbα-mediated aggregation but not GPIbα-stimulated Syk activation in human platelets

open access: yesCell Communication and Signaling, 2019
Background The glycoprotein (GP) Ib-IX-V complex is a unique platelet plasma membrane receptor, which is essential for platelet adhesion and thrombus formation.

Neurotrophic effect of citrus 5-hydroxy-3,6,7,8,3',4'-hexamethoxyflavone: promotion of neurite outgrowth via cAMP/PKA/CREB pathway in PC12 cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
5-Hydroxy-3,6,7,8,3',4'-hexamethoxyflavone (5-OH-HxMF), a hydroxylated polymethoxyflavone, is found exclusively in the Citrus genus, particularly in the peels of sweet orange.

Extracellular regulation of sperm transmembrane adenylyl cyclase by a forward motility stimulating protein. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Forward motility stimulating factor (FMSF), a glycoprotein isolated from buffalo serum, binds to the surface of the mature sperm cells to promote their progressive motility.

Stimulation of glucose utilization in 3T3 adipocytes and rat diaphragm in vitro by the sulphonylureas, glimepiride and glibenclamide, is correlated with modulations of the cAMP regulatory cascade [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The long-term hypoglycemic activity of sulphonylurea drugs has been attributed, in part at least, to the stimulation of glucose utilization in extra-pancreatic tissues. The novel sulphonylurea, glimepiride, gives rise to a longer lasting reduction in the

Fraxinol Stimulates Melanogenesis in B16F10 Mouse Melanoma Cells through CREB/MITF Signaling

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Melanin pigment produced in melanocytes plays a protective role against ultraviolet radiation. Selective destruction of melanocytes causes chronic depigmentation conditions such as vitiligo, for which there are very few specific medical treatments. Here,

Proteolytic Regulation of the Mitochondrial cAMP-Dependent Protein Kinase [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemistry, 2012
The mitochondrial cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) is activatable in a cAMP-independent fashion. The regulatory (R) subunits of the PKA holoenzyme (R2C2), but not the catalytic (C) subunits, suffer proteolysis upon exposure of bovine heart mitochondria to digitonin, Ca2+, and a myriad of electron transport inhibitors.
