Suzetrigine as a novel treatment for headache disorders: A case series

open access: yesHeadache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, EarlyView.
Abstract Suzetrigine is a selective voltage‐gated sodium channel blocker that was recently approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of acute pain. We retrospectively evaluated the efficacy and tolerability of suzetrigine for the treatment of different headache disorders in patients refractory to standard treatments in an ...

Sleep characteristics and self‐reported sleep quality in the oldest‐old: Results from a prospective longitudinal cohort study

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 34, Issue 2, April 2025.
Summary Little is known about the correlation between subjective perception and objective measures of sleep quality in particular in the oldest‐old. The aim of this study was to perform longitudinal home sleep monitoring in this age group, and to correlate results with self‐reported sleep quality.

Carotid artery dissection linked to intermittent apnoeic swimming: A case–control study

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Internal carotid artery (ICA) dissection is a rare and potentially devastating cause of cerebral ischaemia, initiated by an intimal tear or rupture of the vasa vasorum, that can lead to an intraluminal thrombus, vascular stenosis, occlusion, or dissecting aneurysm formation.

Diagnostic Impact of Liver Biopsy Among Antinuclear Antibody Positive Individuals With Mild Liver Enzyme Elevation

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 64, Issue 1, Page 103-111, July 2026.
In ANA‐positive patients with suspected autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), liver biopsy rarely altered therapeutic management when alanine aminotransferase (ALT) was below 101 U/L and cirrhosis was absent. These findings suggest that biopsy may be safely deferred in this low‐risk group.

Therapeutic potential of small molecules that block receptor‐induced Kv7/M‐current suppression in neuroprotection, seizures, and pain

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 13, Page 3780-3795, July 2026.
Receptor‐induced Kv7/M‐current suppression increases neuronal activity and contributes to pathology of several conditions. A new class of Kv7 modulators identified in this study attenuates M‐current suppression and shows therapeutic effects. Abstract Background and Purpose Neuronal Kv7 channels generate low voltage–gated potassium currents known as the

Hyperaldosteronism in the Pathophysiology and Management of Cardiovascular‐Kidney‐Metabolic Syndrome

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 7, Page 5463-5475, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Cardiovascular‐kidney‐metabolic (CKM) syndrome is defined by the pathologic interconnections between obesity, diabetes, chronic kidney disease and cardiovascular disease. An important and underrecognized pathophysiologic factor underlying CKM syndrome is obesity‐induced aldosterone excess.

Impact of Prior Angiotensin‐Converting Enzyme Inhibitor and Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker Use on Delirium Incidence in ICU Patients: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims This investigation aimed at exploring the impact that the pre‐existing use of angiotensin‐converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) and angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) has on the incidence of delirium in patients within the intensive care unit (ICU).
