Abstract An experiment was conducted to explore the impact of fermenting de‐oiled rice bran (DORB) with Aspergillus oryzae on its nutrient composition and anti‐nutritional factors. DORB was inoculated with 7‐day‐old A. oryzae culture grown on potato dextrose agar. The experiment was conducted in triplicate for 120 h, with samples collected at 0, 24, 48,

Energy balance of biodiesel production from canola
: The aim of the present study was to estimate the energy balance (output/input ratio) of the canola crop for biodiesel production, under Brazilian conditions. Fossil energy expended in the production of 600kg of oil per hectare was 7,146,537kcal.

The effectiveness of ultrasonic extraction of phenolics and flavonoids from defatted hemp, flax and canola seed cakes was compared to the conventional extraction method. Ultrasonic treatment at room temperature showed increased polyphenol extraction yield and antioxidant capacity by two-fold over the conventional extraction method.

Oilseed cakes obtained by cold-pressing are rich in lipids susceptible to degradation, which could challenge their handling and nutritional, safety, and sensory requirements, especially during long-storage. Although extrusion is effective at reducing antinutritional factors, its effect on the lipid stability of oilseed cakes remains unknown.

Transport engineering as a strategy to realize rapeseed's potential as a protein‐rich food
The heavily pesticide‐dependent rapeseed is an under‐utilized protein source for food owing to anti‐nutritional glucosinolates. Transport engineering technology may reduce glucosinolates in seeds while increasing defense in vegetative parts. Abstract Rapeseed is the world's second‐largest oilseed crop, and the low‐value press cake that remains after ...

Efficacy of green processing techniques on the recovery of phenolic compounds from canola meal
The current study investigated how supercritical CO2 (SCCO2) and micro-emulsion techniques (MT) used as green processing methods for the extraction of oil from canola press cake affected availability of phenolics from canola (Brassica napus).
