Nucleocapsid Assembly of Baculoviruses
The baculovirus nucleocapsid is formed through a rod-like capsid encapsulating a genomic DNA molecule of 80~180 kbp. The viral capsid is a large oligomer composed of many copies of various protein subunits.

Mechanisms regulating expression of the HPV 31 L1 and L2 capsid proteins and pseudovirion entry
Human papillomaviruses (HPV) infect stratified epithelia and restrict expression of late capsid genes to highly differentiated cells. In order to begin to understand the processes regulating HPV 31 infection we examined the synthesis of the HPV 31 capsid

Proteolytic Processing ofChlorellaVirus CVK2 Capsid Proteins
Chlorella virus CVK2 particles contain several capsid proteins that are selectively released by treatment with 4 M urea. Seven of them (Vp52, Vp45, Vp41, Vp25, Vp20.5, Vp20, and Vp16.2) have been identified based on amino acid sequences at the N-terminus.

ABSTRACT Background Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) is one of the most common nonmelanoma skin cancers, with increasing incidence globally. Beta genus human papillomaviruses (β‐HPVs), particularly in immunocompromised individuals, have been implicated in the development of cSCC. However, the strength of association between β‐HPV seropositivity

In situ structures of the segmented genome and RNA polymerase complex inside a dsRNA virus. [PDF]
Viruses in the Reoviridae, like the triple-shelled human rotavirus and the single-shelled insect cytoplasmic polyhedrosis virus (CPV), all package a genome of segmented double-stranded RNAs (dsRNAs) inside the viral capsid and carry out endogenous ...

Quantifying Protein–Glycan Interactions Using Native Mass Spectrometry
ABSTRACT Interactions between glycan‐binding proteins (GBPs) and carbohydrates (glycans) are essential to many biological processes relevant to human health and disease. For most GBPs, however, their glycan interactome—the repertoire of glycans recognized and their specificities—is poorly defined.

Ion Activation Methods for Top‐Down Proteomics
ABSTRACT Mass spectrometry (MS) has emerged as a premier method used to characterize the sequences of proteins. Top‐down proteomics aims to capture the multiple sources of structural diversity reflected in proteins, such as those that arise from alternative RNA splicing events or the addition of post‐translational modifications. Tandem MS (i.e., MS/MS)

From HBV to MASLD Cirrhosis: Mechanistic Insights and Therapeutic Strategies
This review examines the epidemiological shift from hepatitis B virus (HBV) to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) as the leading cause of cirrhosis globally. It highlights the distinct pathogenic mechanisms between HBV and MASLD cirrhosis and discusses evolving diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies tailored to the ...

Sensitive detection systems for infectious agents in xenotransplantation*
Abstract Xenotransplantation of pig cells, tissues, or organs may be associated with transmission of porcine microorganisms, first of all of viruses, to the transplant recipient, potentially inducing a disease (zoonosis). I would like to define detection systems as the complex of sample generation, sample preparation, sample origin, time of sampling ...

Disease Progression Mathematical Modeling With a Case Study on Hepatitis B Virus Infection
ABSTRACT Chronic Hepatitis B presents a significant health and socioeconomic burden. The risk of hepatocellular carcinoma remains elevated although treatments are available. Achieving an optimal treatment regimen necessitates a deep comprehension of the dynamic relationship between the virus and its host across disease states.
