ABSTRACT Post‐translational modifications (PTMs) to tubulin subunits in microtubule filaments are thought to comprise a component of the tubulin code that specifies microtubule functions in cell physiology and animal development. Acetylation of Lysine‐40 (K40) on α‐tubulin (αTub‐K40ac) and glutamylation of both α‐ and β‐tubulin are two tubulin PTMs of ...

C‐Terminal Tail Elongation Adds a New Dimension to the Tubulin Code
ABSTRACT Tubulin C‐terminal tails undergo diverse post‐translational modifications that regulate microtubule interactions with motors and severing enzymes. TTLL11, a member of the tubulin tyrosine ligase‐like (TTLL) family, uniquely catalyzes glutamate addition to the terminal α‐carboxyl group of both α‐ and β‐primary tubulin tails.

Transpeptidase activity of Streptomyces D-alanyl-D carboxypeptidases [PDF]
peer reviewedIn the presence of N(alpha),N(epsilon)-diacetyl-L-Lys-D-Ala-D-Ala as donor, and either D-[(14)C]alanine, [(14)C]-glycine, or meso-[(3)H]diaminopimelic acid as acceptor, the DD carboxypeptidases from Streptomyces R61 and R39 catalyze a ...

Bioactive Peptides in Meat and Meat Products
A number of bioactive peptides with health benefits have been reported to be generated in meat through the proteolysis phenomena taking place during postmortem aging or further processing. Bioactive peptides consist of short sequences, less than 20 amino

ABSTRACT Microtubules are noncovalent polymers assembled from α/β tubulin dimers. Their structure, dynamics and interaction with effectors are regulated through the expression of diverse tubulin isotypes and chemically diverse posttranslational modifications, also known as the “tubulin code.” Understanding the biophysical correlates between tubulin ...

Risperidone is a commonly used antipsychotic for treating psychiatric illness in children and adolescents. There is a large variability in risperidone response and discontinuation rates remain high. Pharmacogenomics offers the opportunity to improve risperidone outcomes, yet studies in pediatric populations are limited.

Structural and functional characterisation of LdcB LD-carboxypeptidases from Streptococcus pneumoniae and Bacillus subtilis [PDF]
PhD ThesisThe bacterial cell wall surrounds the cytoplasmic membrane and protects the cell against osmolysis in addition to providing shape. The cell wall is comprised of peptidoglycan, repeating units of N-acetly glucosamine and N-acetyl muramic acid

Penicillin-sensitive DD-carboxypeptidases from Streptomyces strains R39 and K11 [PDF]
peer reviewedThe two penicillin-sensitive DD-carboxypeptidases from Streptomyces R39 and K11 are anionic at pH 8. They specifically recognize a C-terminal L-R3-D-alanyl-D sequence with a long side chain at the R3 position.
