Mitotic ER exit site dynamics: insights into blockade of secretion from the ER during mitosis
How ER exit sites disassemble during mitosis is not well understood. Transport ANd Golgi Organization 1 (TANGO1, also known as MIA3), a cargo receptor originally identified for collagens, acts as a hub for ER exit site disassembly under the control of ...

DNA‐Enzyme Hybrid Nanostructures: Functional Materials to Modulate Enzymatic Activity
DNA–enzyme hybrid nanostructures enable precise spatial and stoichiometric control over enzyme organization, offering a powerful platform to modulate catalytic activity. This review critically evaluates key mechanistic hypotheses, including proximity effects, microenvironment changes, confinement, and stabilization, as well as highlighting ...

Circadian clocks are timing devices that rhythmically adjust organism’s behavior, physiology, and metabolism to the 24-h day-night cycle. Eukaryotic circadian clocks rely on several interlocked transcription-translation feedback loops, where protein ...

In atherosclerotic plaques, transformation of macrophages into foam cells is a key step in initiating the inflammatory response. Here Fan et al. show that casein kinase 2-interacting protein-1 (CKIP-1) limits foam cell formation and atherosclerosis by ...

Post-translational Regulation of FNIP1 Creates a Rheostat for the Molecular Chaperone Hsp90
Summary: The molecular chaperone Hsp90 stabilizes and activates client proteins. Co-chaperones and post-translational modifications tightly regulate Hsp90 function and consequently lead to activation of clients.

Replicated mainland–islet populations of the Skyros wall lizard reveal consistent divergence in digestive physiology, including gut morphology, passage time, digestive efficiency and enzyme activity. These results show how ecological variation in resource availability can shape digestive performance across populations in insular environments.

Lewy bodies are surrounded by granulovacuolar degeneration bodies in dementia with Lewy bodies
Here, we report Lewy bodies (LBs) to be enriched for tau‐laden granulovacuolar degeneration bodies (GVBs), suggesting a potential mechanistic interface between α‐synuclein and tau pathology in dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). Abstract Lewy bodies (LBs), composed primarily of aggregated α‐synuclein (α‐syn), are the pathological hallmark of Lewy body ...

Casein kinase 1 functions as both penultimate and ultimate kinase in regulating Cdc25A destruction [PDF]
The Cdc25A protein phosphatase drives cell-cycle transitions by activating cyclin-dependent protein kinases. Failure to regulate Cdc25A leads to deregulated cell-cycle progression, bypass of cell-cycle checkpoints and genome instability. Ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis has an important role in balancing Cdc25A levels.

Structural Basis for the Potent and Selective Inhibition of Casein Kinase 1 Epsilon
Casein kinase 1 epsilon (CK1ε) and its closest homologue CK1δ are key regulators of diverse cellular processes. We report two crystal structures of PF4800567, a potent and selective inhibitor of CK1ε, bound to the kinase domains of human CK1ε and CK1δ as
