Mixed lineage kinase 3 mediates SARS‐CoV‐2‐induced kidney injury via the Hsp70‐IL‐17A axis
Kidney samples from patients infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‑CoV‑2) showed upregulated expression and activity of Mixed Lineage Kinase (MLK3). Based on the mechanistic studies, we identified MLK3 as a critical player in promoting SARS‐CoV‐2‐induced kidney injury.

Casein Kinase 1 Epsilon Expression Predicts Poorer Prognosis in Low T-Stage Oral Cancer Patients
Casein kinase 1 is a group of ubiquitous serine/threonine kinases that are involved in normal cellular functions and several pathological conditions, such as DNA repair, cell cycle progression, cytokinesis, differentiation, and apoptosis.

Efavirenz Induced Suicidal Death of Human Erythrocytes
Background/Aims: The reverse transcriptase inhibitor efavirenz utilized for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 infection, triggers suicidal cell death or apoptosis, an effect in part due to interference with mitochondrial potential ...

Small‐Molecule Kinase Inhibitors Modulating Circadian Rhythms
ABSTRACT The circadian clock mechanism generates 24‐h rhythms crucial for regulating various physiological processes, and its dysregulation has been implicated in numerous diseases. In cells, the circadian clock operates through a transcriptional‐translational feedback loop, where phosphorylation plays a pivotal role in maintaining accurate circadian ...

A protein kinase, able to phosphorylate casein, phosvitin, and glycogen synthase, was purified approximately 9000-fold from rabbit liver, and appeared analogous to an enzyme studied by Itarte and Huang (Itarte, E., and Huang, K.-P. (1979) J. Biol. Chem. 254, 4052-4057).

Casein kinase 1 regulates Sprouty2 in FGF–ERK signaling [PDF]
Sprouty2 (SPRY2) is a potent negative regulator of receptor tyrosine kinase signaling, and is implicated as a tumor suppressor. SPRY2 inhibits FGF-RAS-ERK signaling by binding to growth factor receptor bound protein 2 (GRB2) during fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) activation, disrupting the GRB2-SOS (son of sevenless) complex that transduces ...

BACKGROUND: Casein kinase 1 delta (CK1delta) plays a more prominent role in the regulation of circadian cycle length than its homologue casein kinase 1 epsilon (CK1epsilon) in peripheral tissues such as liver and embryonic fibroblasts.

Circadian clocks are timing devices that rhythmically adjust organism’s behavior, physiology, and metabolism to the 24-h day-night cycle. Eukaryotic circadian clocks rely on several interlocked transcription-translation feedback loops, where protein ...

Structural Insights Into the Function of Leishmania major Adenylosuccinate Lyase
ABSTRACT One of several intriguing aspects of kinetoplastid biochemistry is the complete dependence on host purines and purine recycling due to the lack of a de novo purine biosynthesis pathway. Adenylosuccinate lyase (ASL, EC 4.3.2.2) is a key enzyme in the purine synthesis pathway responsible for the conversion of adenylosuccinate into adenosine ...
