Differentiation of mouse fetal lung alveolar progenitors in serum-free organotypic cultures

open access: yeseLife, 2021
Lung epithelial progenitors differentiate into alveolar type 1 (AT1) and type 2 (AT2) cells. These cells form the air-blood interface and secrete surfactant, respectively, and are essential for lung maturation and function.

Dynamic Single‐Binding Event Profiling With on‐Chip Microlenses for Wash‐Free Digital Biosensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A microlens‐enhanced platform enables real‐time tracking and digital counting of single‐binding events using conventional bright‐field microscopy. Amplified scattering signals from gold nanoparticle labels and kinetic signature analysis allow wash‐free discrimination between specific and nonspecific interactions, while providing kinetic and mechanistic

Table3_Evolution of casein kinase 1 and functional analysis of new doubletime mutants in Drosophila.DOCX

open access: yes, 2022
Circadian clocks are timing devices that rhythmically adjust organism’s behavior, physiology, and metabolism to the 24-h day-night cycle. Eukaryotic circadian clocks rely on several interlocked transcription-translation feedback loops, where protein ...

CK2 and protein kinases of the CK1 superfamily as targets for neurodegenerative disorders

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences, 2022
Casein kinases are involved in a variety of signaling pathways, and also in inflammation, cancer, and neurological diseases. Therefore, they are regarded as potential therapeutic targets for drug design.

Histone H3K18 Lactylation Promotes the Malignant Progression of Wilms Tumor via a PSRC1/AKT/HIF‐1α Positive Feedback Loop

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In nephroblastoma, aberrant glycolysis drives lactate accumulation, which elevates histone H3K18 lactylation via p300. Lactylation of the PSRC1 promoter activates its transcription. PSRC1 competitively binds AKT, relieving PTEN‐mediated inhibition and triggering AKT/mTOR/HIF‐1α signaling.

Nuclear factor of activated T cells as a driver of tumor progression and a target for precision therapy

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Overview illustration of dysregulated NFAT activation coordinating upstream signaling, post‐translational regulation and cancer promoting pathways to induce abnormal gene expression that drives tumor development, progression and immune escape. Abstract The Nuclear Factor of Activated T Cells (NFAT) family comprises closely related transcription factors.

Crystal Structure of a Conformation-selective Casein Kinase-1 Inhibitor [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2000
Members of the casein kinase-1 family of protein kinases play an essential role in cell regulation and disease pathogenesis. Unlike most protein kinases, they appear to function as constitutively active enzymes. As a result, selective pharmacological inhibitors can play an important role in dissection of casein kinase-1-dependent processes.

Isolation and properties of YCK2, a Saccharomyces cerevisiae homolog of casein kinase-1

open access: yes, 1993
A soluble fragment of YCK2, a casein kinase-1 isoform from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, has been purified and characterized in vitro. The procedure enriches enzyme activity to a final specific activity of 4.7 mumol min-1 mg-1 (when assayed with casein as ...
