Crystal structure of casein kinase‐1, a phosphate‐directed protein kinase. [PDF]

open access: yesThe EMBO Journal, 1995
The structure of a truncated variant of casein kinase-1 from Schizosaccharomyces pombe, has been determined in complex with MgATP at 2.0 A resolution. The model resembles the 'closed', ATP-bound conformations of the cyclin-dependent kinase 2 and the cAMP-dependent protein kinase, with clear differences in the structure of surface loops that impart ...

The Role of Casein Kinase 1 in Meiosis

open access: yesJournal of Down Syndrome & Chromosome Abnormalities, 2016
The casein kinase 1 (CK1) belongs to the serine/threonine protein kinases. CK1 members, which commonly exist in all eukaryotes, are involved in the regulation of many cellular processes linked to cell cycle progression, spindledynamics, and chromosome segregation.

Scaffold Repurposing of in-House Chemical Library toward the Identification of New Casein Kinase 1 δ Inhibitors. [PDF]

open access: yesACS Med Chem Lett, 2020
Recent studies have highlighted the key role of Casein kinase 1 δ(CK1δ) in the development of several neurodegenerative pathologies, such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Casein kinase 1 is a therapeutic target in chronic lymphocytic leukemia [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 2018
Key PointsCK1 inhibition significantly blocks microenvironmental interactions of CLL cells. CK1 inhibition slows down development of CLL-like disease in the Eμ-TCL1 mouse model.

The ATP,Mg-dependent protein phosphatase: regulation by casein kinase-1.

open access: yes, 1987
The free modulator subunit of the ATP,Mg-dependent phosphatase is phosphorylated up to 1 mol per mol by casein kinase-1, up to 1.85 mol per mol after dephosphorylation by the PCSH1 phosphatase, but 10-fold less when purified in the presence of NaF ...

Casein Kinase 1 Promotes Synchrony of the Circadian Clock Network [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Biology, 2014
Casein kinase 1, known as DOUBLETIME (DBT) in Drosophila melanogaster, is a critical component of the circadian clock that phosphorylates and promotes degradation of the PERIOD (PER) protein. However, other functions of DBT in circadian regulation are not clear, in part because severe reduction of dbt causes preadult lethality.

Construction of a Plasmodium falciparum Rab-interactome identifies CK1 and PKA as Rab-effector kinases in malaria parasites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background information The pathology causing stages of the human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum reside within red blood cells that are devoid of any regulated transport system.

Regulation of p53-MDMX Interaction by Casein Kinase 1 Alpha [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Biology, 2005
MDMX is a homolog of MDM2 that is critical for regulating p53 function during mouse development. MDMX degradation is regulated by MDM2-mediated ubiquitination. Whether there are other mechanisms of MDMX regulation is largely unknown. We found that MDMX binds to the casein kinase 1 alpha isoform (CK1alpha) and is phosphorylated by CK1alpha.
